My ears rang. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't function. I felt weightless. Floating through space. Free.

I could stay here, I thought. I could stay here forever, free of guilt and struggle.

I don't want to deal with life anymore.

Something pulled me back, though. Something tugged at me, drawing me through the oblivion. I woke to a face I thought I'd never see again. Although, I thought I'd never see any face again. I couldn't form a thought, just stared at the face. I felt at peace, looking at the face.

My limbs felt like lead. I couldn't lift them. I just laid, limp, wherever I was.

Then there was a splash of water. It landed on my neck. A few more.

I woke up.
