warning: contains graphic scenes against children

You were a detective in Bludhaven and your partner in crime--Dick Grayson, was more than just a coworker. The two of you were newlyweds, and your one year anniversary was coming up. Although, you always dreamed of having kids of your own, especially with Dick, there was no one better to have as the father. But things weren't looking good as the two of you keep trying and trying with no prevail. You were suppose to go to a clinic to see if there was a problem and if you were infertile which caused you to already think of the worst.
It was a late night shift and the two of you had been called to a murder scene to investigate. Dick drove and you looked out the window. Arriving at the scene, the other officers filled you in. It was truly a gruesome scene and worst of all-- it was a child murder. You rubbed your temples, nervous to see but nonetheless you sucked it up and went to do your job.
"The best guess is the father, Greg Wiseman, did it. He left work two hours before the crime and we can't reach his cell. The neighbours have also been reporting abuse to the children before hand." An officer that was already on the scene in formed the two of you. Dick nodded and you sighed.
"What about the mother? Is she still in the picture?" You asked and the officer shook his head,
"she's serving 25 years for possession and distribution of narcotics." He explained and you felt a pit in your stomach drop. You didn't know how people could just abandon their kids like that. You placed a hand in your lower stomach as you and Dick walked in.
The sight was horrible. There was blood everywhere and you felt like gagging when you saw the state the young children were in. It was a boy and a girl, both excessively stabbed to death, along with blunt force trauma to their heads.
You thought you were going to faint. Dick placed his hand on your back and you leaned into him. It was a late night and you could barely handle what you were seeing.
"I think I need a minute outside." You told Dick who nodded in understanding. It was hard to look at. He waited for a minute before he went out to look for you.
"Y/n..." he said, sitting down next to you as you had your head in your hands, tears trailing down your eyes. This case was somewhat personal for you. You looked at your husband.
"I just don't understand how someone can just do that to their children." You cried and Dick pulled your into his arms as he kissed the top of your head.
"They were innocent children and the person that was supposed to protect them did this." You said through sniffles. "Why can't we have kids, Dick? Why do horrible people like that man have kids? We're good people, Dick, why can't I have a baby?" You sobbed as Dick began to shed a tear. He shook his head, rubbing your back.
"Y/n, I promise you, were going to start a family. Wether it's in a week or a year— I swear and I can promise you that you'll be the best mother."
You wiped away your tears and look at the man you had married, bringing him into a sweet and passionate kiss.
"You're going to be an amazing father too, Dick." He smiled at the thought and the two of you stayed wrapped in each others arms for a moment longer before you turn to him.
"Let's go catch that scumbag." You take his arm and the two of you walk back into the house, ready to throw a terrible, terrible man in jail.
