"Sorry uh, I thought you were asleep." She grasped her hand back, cheeks heating for the umpteenth time of the night, and she wondered if anti-blushing lotion existed.
"I rarely sleep." He blew air on the stray hair strands that rested on his forehead.
"That makes us two." Ji Ae retorted, burying her face deeper into her Pjs in an attempt to hide the flush on her face that was only accentuated with the artificial lighting.
"What brings you here, Love?" His eyes drifted from the boring wall they examined aimlessly, crashing on hers, yet his face exhibited no emotion.
"I was bored." Her fingers twirled around each other, and she looked at them as if it was the most entertaining thing in the world.
"I doubt this place is boredom-friendly." Donghyuck said, eying the area that reflected monotony.
"It's okay, at least I'm not alone anymore." She giggled, giving him a friendly tap on the shoulder. "Why are you always here, though?"
"I don't have anywhere else to go to." The Demi-god uttered a sigh, the following discussion was the least thing he was prepared to.
"What about your house?" She carried on with the inquisitive questions, oblivious to the irritation symtoms he purposely displayed.
"I am not very fond of my place."
"Oh." She clasped her mouth shut. "family conflicts, huh?"
"I don't have a family."
"I'm sorry I didn't know..." The young woman cried out, accompanying her whines with several frantic nods. "If it can console you, I don't have a mom either."
"Hell yeah, you sure do not." He muttered under his breath, irony hinting in his speech.
"Excuse me?" Ji Ae raised an eyebrow at the boy who's face was now turned to a fence, fleeing her gaze in fear of spilling TMI.
"Nothing."
They sat there together as a peaceful silence enclosed them, both imprisoned by the cozy temperature that was generated by their proximity as they watched the sky grow a shade lighter every now and then, minds overflowing with thoughts that begged to be vocalized yet neither of them dared to speak.
"Give me your phone." Ji Ae broke the silence as soon as a "genius" idea crossed her mind.
"Why?" He asked, too lazy to open his eyes.
"Just because."
"Ugh, okay?" He watched her graze the glassy screen with her thumbs, face illuminated by the small engine, and he swore he could spot chocolate-colored freckles on her rosy cheeks.
"You have almost no contacts!" The Demi-goddess gasped as she scrolled down the almost empty contact list, wide eyed.
"Good job, Miss perspicacious." He responded, sarcasm concealing his tone as he watched her face go through a set of different expressions within seconds with amusement.
She ignored his remark and continued typing god knows what on the boy's phone with a proud smirk beaming on her cherry lips.
"Here you go." She handed him his phone back.
"What did you do?"
"Who knows? Anyway, I'm going home dad's probably going to lose his mind when he notices my absence, peace out."
He watched her walk through the deserted neighborhood under the sun that had just peeked through the clouds with a faint smile as he felt slumber slowly engulfing his body.
"Maybe I should sleep, after all."
