hello, broken soul

It's hard for me to wake up every morning.
It really hurts to pretend like nothing's falling.
I look in the mirror to see who's looking back.
All I see is the person in cracks.

I go out, because it is custom.
I feel like I'm breaking but I hold on.
I smile at the girl who sits to my left
She smiles back like everything's perfect..

And I say, hello! Are you another broken soul.
Does your heart, also, has a hole.
Because you're smiling so brightly.

I walk down like everything is easy
Smile back at everyone whom I see.
Laugh out, like that joke had me dying.
Don't let out, that inside I'm crying.

I feel like I'm inside a crumbling tower.
I count the clock till it hits six hours.
I wish good day to my teacher while going home.
She says it back in such a cheery tone.

And I say, hello, are you another tired soul?
Does your life also takes a heavy toll?
Because you're smiling so brightly.

On the way, my shoulders feel so heavy.
They have taken a lot of burden for me.
My friends ask me how am I doing?
'Great' is the answer by default in my setting.

When I reach the gate, my life feels little better.
Like I've survived yet another battle.
My neighbour with the bend back and heavy eyes,
Greets me like everything has been so nice.

And I say, hello, are you another tortured soul?
Are you also standing tall on burning coals
Because you're smiling so brightly.
