I'm sorry I didn't post anything, my last chapter didn't get many views, so I didn't think anyone would be interested in this story, but I'll keep writing anyway, even if it's not good

The next two chapters will be slightly longer than normal

<Ban's POV>

I tried to fall asleep but my thoughts disturbed me. I'm worried about my best buddy, today when I saw his hands shaking I knew something was wrong.

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a door open and close quietly, it came from the direction of the Cap'n and the princess 'room

I got up to see what was going on.

I went out quietly and saw the Captain go down the stairs. It was dark, but you could tell from his posture that the moonlight was releasing that he was not asleep.

When he was downstairs I decided to move towards the stairs, only to see that he was standing at the door, one hand on the doorknob but he wasn't moving.

"did he notice me?" I spoke to myself in my head.

When he turned around I just hoped that he wasn't going my way and luckily he went behind the bar and took an ale

I was about to complain that he was drinking without me, but he put the bottle back in the cupboard

He went to the windowsill, put plants and books aside and to my surprise he opened it.

He took out a bottle and put it all back up.

When he went outside, I waited a minute to go downstairs.

I wanted to take a closer look at the hidden cupboard.

When I went downstairs, I went to the window and repeated his process

I opened it and was surprised with 7 bottles, I took one out and tried to read what it said without success.

I decided to open one, and was covered with a very strong smell of alcohol

I smelled it and my whole lung was burning, you could say it was stronger than pure alcohol!

I only felt dazed by the smell, I decided not to take a sip of it, I am immortal, but I think this thing would even manage to kill me

I put everything back in, and thought about how Meliodas can drink this, if he drinks it, it's clear that he will never get drunk of other stuff. But why'd he get a bottle like that? It would be pure suicide to drink it.

"Pure suicide" I kept mumbling to myself as my gears went round and round.

I stormed out of the tavern looking for my cap'n and best friend

I walked for a good 10 minutes when I heard a familiar voice talking, it was behind a bush, I went there quietly to see Meliodas lying in the grass with an empty bottle.

One leg on the other and hands behind his head, he just stared straight ahead, it was pleasantly quiet.

I concentrated only on my captain at that moment, I didn't even care where he was staring at until I picked up a light salty breeze.

I decided to follow his gaze, and I was amazed... you could see the endless ocean, there were light waves, and the reflection of the moon made it all even more breathtaking.

I never thought the captain would be interested in such things.

I stared at the view for a while, stunned, not even noticing how long I had been standing there, until suddenly I heard Meliodas talking to himself again, it was quiet but loud enough that I could hear it

"Stupid, why did I ever think that this would end in a happy ending," the blond boy murmured to himself.

"If I just hadn't been so naive, none of this would have happened," he sighed.

I was confused what he was talking about. We sins were all together except Escsnor again for some time, we freed Hendrickson from the demons, and we will soon be awarded by the king, isn't that a great happy ending? I may be talking to him about it soon.

I was just about to go back, as I saw that even this 'alcohol' has no effect on him.

I turned around, but before I could take a step, I was interrupted by a loud sigh

I decided to take another look at my best friend, but what I saw was more than shocked

There he lay, frowning as he bit his lower lip. It looked painful. It hurt to see him like that. I wanted to go to him, but something stopped me

Maybe because then he'll find out that I was spying on him and he'll probably get mad at me.

I couldn't think any further when I heard another long broken sigh, a single tear running down his face.

I couldn't control myself any longer, if he wants to be mad, he can be, but I can't see him like this any longer.

I walked quietly towards him until I stood a little to the side of him, but still behind him.

He did not notice me in any way, he did not turn around or say anything.

Now that I was closer to him, I took a closer look at my captain. His lip was bitten bloodily, and his eyes were swollen, it looked as if he did not want to cry.

After I looked at him, I had a bad feeling, I just wanted to help him with whatever, even if it was the smallest thing that makes him in this state, it hurt to see him like that, he helped me so many times, so I wanted to help him.

I put one hand on his shoulder

His eyes widened, he turned to me and you could see his shock in his eyes, from one second to the other he had dried his glassy eyes so you couldn't see anything, and he licked over his lips so you couldn't see the injury.

He had a grin on his face, but I knew that it was not a real one. Although I would say that if I hadn't seen his condition from before, I would buy his grin.

I frowned a little.

"What's wrong?" I asked anxiously, hoping for a valid answer

But all I got in response was a raised eyebrow while he tilted his head a little bit.

"Huh? What do you mean, Ban?" He still answered with his usual smirk, and the longer I look at it, the less difference I see between this and his usual smirk. Was he just very good at faking a grin, or were they all the wrong time?

I sighed and explained to him that I had just seen him in that state, hoping that he wouldn't talk his way out of it, but that hope was taken away as his smile only widened, and replied

"And you're sure you didn't imagine or anything?" he asked me. He is a really good liar, if I would have been someone else I would have believed him, but unfortunately I used a lot of different excuses back then, not so good ones and also without this actor arts, but I also used them in the past

I knelt down to his height, still with one hand on his shoulder and never broke eye contact with him, his eyes widened just a little bit, almost invisible, but I could see it.
