CHAPTER 8 | REHEARSAL

"Anong nabunot mo for the sports attire category?" a Grade 11 contestant suddenly asked me. I smiled at her before answering.

"Taekwondo," maikling sagot ko sa kanya. I guess her name's Kia. She's cute and friendly kaya hindi ko na kailangang makipag-plastikan.

"Ah, bagay po sa'yo ate" napahinto ako saglit sa ginagawa dahil sa sinabi niya. I really like it when lower years students call me 'ate', it's kinda cute and respectful at the same time.

Nagpaalam ako kaagad kay Kia pagkatapos naming mag-usap. Mag-isa lang akong pumunta sa nangyaring bunutan kanina dahil ayaw ni Race na siya ang bumunot para sa sports attire namin.

Rehearsal namin mamaya para sa talent portion at practice din para sa coronation.

I still can't believe that Race is doing something just for me to forgive and accept him again. To be honest, it's not a problem for me. But as day goes by, I can still remember and feel the pain. Things had changed and we just need to accept that. I don't also want to hurt my bestfriend so I need to ignore this.

"Oh, bakit ka nakasimangot?" tanong ko kay Mitch pagkalapit sa kanya.

"Gusto ko talagang makasama si Race sa cooking contest," pagre-reklamo niya.

"Hayaan mo nalang kasi 'yan. At least nakikipag-usap na siya sa'yo," I said.

Yes, that's true. Hindi ko alam kung anong pakulo ang gustong gawin ni Race pero bigla nalang nagbago ang tungo niya sa kaibigan ko. Ang noo'y iniiwasan at hindi niya pinapansin ay kinakausap at pinapakisamahan na niya ngayon. Naisip ko tuloy kung nababaliw na ba ang lalaking 'yon.

"Kaya nga, at least panalo ako sa ganyang bagay. I can already feel my victory," her mood suddenly changed that made me uncomfortable.

"But are you really sure that he's in love with you?" tanong ko kahit labag naman sa loob.

"Not sure. But I know that everything will run smoothly especially that he already followed me on Instagram," she gladly informed me.

I remember that Mitch tried to messaged Race before but he never noticed or even gave that message a seen. And after 3 years of Mitch's admiration, he suddenly changed.

"But don't assume too much, Mitch. I'm happy with that but I don't want you to get hurt," I advise.

I need to talk to Race about this. How dare he meddle with my bestfriend without any reason?

Inaya ko nalang muna si Mitch na pumunta sa locker upang kunin ang mga susuotin ko mamaya sa rehearsal.

Hapon na at umaga natapos ang klase namin dahil sa mga paghahanda. Creative team, Homemakers Club, SSG officers, JNL Log, Faculty and staffs are all freaking busy. Isali mo nalang din kaming mga contestants.
