"W,Webby?"
Webby heard her name and tried to open her eyes, but couldn't.
"Webby! Please, wake up!"
She knew Louie was pleading with her, even bribed her to wake up, but this time, this voice was different, a little less urgent and more concern then with fear.
"D,Dewey." She muttered.
The voice stopped calling her but she knew it was him. Knew that she was somehow near her now. She forced her eyes open and stared up at his concern and tearful face.
"Hey." She whispered.
"Hey." Dewey replied back.
Dewey watched her with guilt as she forced herself up against the cell wall. She yelped a bit but quickly recovered when Dewey reached out to help her out.
"No, I, I'm fine. Really." She told him, quickly.
"You don't look fine." Dewey pointed out.
He narrowed his eyes at her featherless arms. He had no doubt that she had other worser wounds that he couldn't see, and was hiding from him. He hated seeing the fearful look on her face, like he was the villian, like he did this to her.
"J,Just drop it. Okay?" Webby said, tiredly. She hugged her knees close to her chest and buried her face in them.
"I will not drop this, Webbigail." Dewey said, loudly and in a firm tone making Webby's head snap up and stare at him. He had never used her full name before. Ever. "Who did this to you?" He asked, more gently.
"B,Boyd." Webby whispered.
Dewey's anger rose to the boiling point. Webby watched him get up and walk to a wall. He stared at it for a long time before punching it hard enough to made a dent. Webby winced when she heard a few bones crack in his hand. Dewey didn't even howl in pain.
"I'm gonna dismantel that no good son of a -." He stopped when he saw tears in Webby's eyes. "Webby?" He asked, he walked over to her, careful not to get to close. She still seemed a bit shell shocked to have someone close to her.
"I, I'm sorry. Dewey." She sobbed. "I, I broke our promsie!" She wailed, and buried her face back into her knees. She couldn't look at him, didn't want to see the disappointed look on his face. Dewey's face soften a bit and took a chance at sitting down next to her and putting an arm around her. She didn't pull away, didn't even look up. She just sat there, sobbing.
Dewey put his head back on the cell wall and closed his eyes.
He hated the fact that her tears seemed to calm him down. Nega Duck had left with Goldie once she had showed up with Webby. So at least Dewey didn't have to listen to him rattle on and on about how he and him were the same. The 'other,' Webby was gone too. She left soon after Goldie and Nega Duck, even though she was suppose to stay.
Dewey wondered if it was just his imagination, or did he really see the look of sheer determination and reasoning on her face before she took one last look at him before she left?
He poundered on that until he waited patiently for Webby to finally stopped crying.
"I sort of broke it too, ya know." Dewey said, finally. Webby lifted her head again. "I sent Boyd after you. I, I'm so sorry, Webby." He said.
"You obviously had no choice." Webby told him, gently.
Dewey nodded.
"T,They were going to hurt both Louie's, if, if I didn't -." He stopped, and his eyes widen as he looked over at Webby. "W,Where is it?" he asked, in panic. "Where's the -." He looked her over and his heart sank, she didn't have her backpack on her.
"Don't worry," Webby told her. "Huey has it." She told him, "and I wouldn't say what it is, they still don't know." She whispered to him.
Dewey nodded.
"You trust him to keep it safe?" He asked.
"Yes, as much as I trust you to get us home." Webby told him.
She slowly reached out for his none broken hand, heistated, then took it in hers and squeezed it tightly.
"You know what it is then, what it really is?" He asked.
"I knew the minute I saw it." Webby told him.
"At least I made the right choice in that." He said, with a sigh.
They sat in silence for a long time, just listening to each other's breathing until Dewey asked finally in a gloomy voice,
"What do we do now?"
Webby didn't know how to answer him. So she just remained quiet.
Both Louie's were in even worser shape then Dewey and Webby.
The 'original,' Louie had a busted up shoulder, and was pretty sure he had a couple of broken ribs from being thrown by Boyd. His double had it worse and he feared that if they didn't act soon he feared that his double may not make it.
"Guess it was a good thing Goldie showed up when she did, eh?" Louie said, trying to make livily of the situation they were in.
He didn't want to keep hearing his double's breathing waver then die, waver then die. It made him sick to his stomach, and angry that he couldn't do anything to help him. Not only was he cursed, but he's also been through hell and back more so then the rest of them.
The curse, Webby, the Pit, and now this.
"Yeah, for once." His double agreed, weakly, then coughed.
Louie looked at him sadly.
"Don't you go dying on me, man." Louie told him. "I, I don't want to be the one to tell Webby -." He stopped.
Webby.
His Webby looked so fragile and beaten down that he couldn't even focus long enough to come up with some sort of plan.
"She'll be fine, Louie." His double assured him, seeing the look on his face.
"I, I know she'll be fine, it's the way she looked, all burned, that I can't get out of my mind." Louie whispered. "I, I can't focus long enough to come up with a plan -."
"Look's like you two are going to need some help, then." Said a voice from in the shadows.
Both Louie's looked towards the voice and watched as it emerged from the shadows.
"W,Webby?" Louie's double choked out.
Webby nervously walked up to the cell and gripped the handle bars tightly.
"Hey, Louie." She whispered, smiling at him, sheepishly.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at her, "Come to stab me in the heart again?" He snapped.
"Louie!" Louie scolded his double.
"Butt out, man." His double shot back.
Louie fell silent and backed a way a few feet as his double limped up towards Webby, Webby felt a stab of guilt. She is the one who did this to him, forced him to come here and in the mercy of Boyd.
"Give it to me straight, Webby." Louie's double said, "What excatly is it you want?" He said,
Webby opened her mouth to respond,
"Keep in mind," Louie's double continued, "that what you say next will determined the outcome of this conversation." He seethed.
Webby closed it again, and glanced at Louie who merely stared back and gave her a small shrug and smile of encouragement behind his double's back. Webby closed her eyes, inhaled deeply then exhaled before she opened them again and gave Louie her answer.
"What I want, Louie," Webby began, "is for things to go back to the way they were. Before all this chaos between our worlds started." She told him.
Louie's double stared at her.
"I, I want us to fix this. Together." She finished.
Louie's double looked back at his counter part and raised an eyebrow as if asking for permission if we should let her help them or not.
"It's all you, man." Louie replied with a smile.
His double looked back at Webby who looked back at him with pleading eyes.
"Okay." He said, finally. Webby smiled at him and dug into her own vest for the keys. She jammed them into the key lock and flung open the door. "But seriously, Webby. If you wanted to break up all you had to do was say so, I really didn't need -."
Webby didn't let him finish before she grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him in for a kiss. Louie figured he forced himself not to yelp in pain when she did for he was still rather sore from what just went down with him and Boyd.
But by the way they were kissing Louie figured that if anything, he wasn't really thinking of himself right at that moment.
Louie's own heart ached for his Webby as the other two stayed that way for longer then intended before he cleared his throat loudly.
His double and Webby pulled away, both blushing a deep shade of red.
"Hate to break this up," Louie said, "but don't we need to get a move on?" He asked, as he passed the two and headed for the door.
"Yeah." His double agreed, grabbing her hand and squeezing it tightly. He was never going to let go of her agan. "Let's go." He agreed, and they did.
