6 - NYC & new friends

I woke up next to Calum for the second night in a row on the park ground. The temperature was lower today, giving me goosebumps. I looked over at Calum and noticed that he was just waking up too.

"goodmorning babe." he looked at me.
"morning cal." I said while stretching my arms out above my head.
"I could really get used to waking up next to you every morning." he smiled.

"well that's a good thing because you're gonna have to." I laughed. "we're running away together Calum." I said in a matter of fact tone.

"I know." he smiled widely.

"Well we should get going sooner rather than later, don't you say?" Calum suggested. I nodded.

"I have a good amount of money that I've been storing in my room aka my 'college money' but I won't be needing that for college anymore." he smirked.

then I remembered I also saved up money for college which I can take with us when we run away.

"Let's go to our houses, grab the money, and meet back here." he said.

"okay." I agreed.

I walked very fast to my house and got the money quickly. I walked back to the park to see Calum waiting there smiling at me. He starting waving uncontrollably at me from down the block. It was a hilarious sight. He's so silly but I love it.

I waved back subtly and smiled.

when I reached him, he held up a stack of money. I held up my stack of money.

"How much?" he asked.

"$15,000" I smiled. "how much do you have?" I asked.

"$22,000" he said proudly.

wow. that's a lot of money. In total we have $37,000. I guess we're pretty successful runaways. we smiled at each other and he grabbed my hand.

He called a cab to come pick us up. I thought running away would be tiring and dirty, but he made it classy and relaxing. It took about 5 hours to get to NYC. Me and Calum talked the whole way there though, so I'm not complaining.

We got to the city and I looked up at the huge buildings surrounding us. It fascinated me and I was extremely excited. I was in the city I've always longed to visit, with my favorite person in the world.

He looked at me and saw my reaction to the city, he smiled. We were both looking out the windows admiring the beauty of New York until the cab driver pulled over onto the side of the road.

"Thanks so much." Calum said to the driver. He nodded. Calum handed him the money and we got out of the cab.

I looked around. Everything seemed so surreal. A few days ago I was being yelled at by my rude parents and hating life, now I'm in NYC with the boy of my dreams. I'm pretty lucky I guess.

We walked around the city and saw Radio City Music Hall. I thought that was pretty cool. I was so excited to be here. Calum's reaction was mirroring mine, although he seemed very protective over me, due to the fact that he was gripping my hand and keeping me close.

I heard giggling as we passed by an alleyway. We looked over towards the noise and saw a couple sitting on the floor talking amongst themselves. From where I was standing, I could tell that the girl had Blackish hair with a brown ombré cascading halfway down her back. The boy's blonde hair was styled up neatly into a high quiff. they looked like a happy couple, which made me smile.

I noticed another couple down the alley a little further. The girl had long, straight, blonde hair and was pretty tall. We kind of looked alike. The boy had dirty blonde, curly hair and was very muscular. They were standing against the wall talking.

I turned around and saw another couple walking into the alley. The girl had strawberry blonde, wavy hair and was also tall. She was walking hand in hand with a red head boy. And no I don't mean a ginger. His hair was dyed fully 'blood' red. I kind of liked it. He was pale but overall had a very appealing look.

All these couples made me curious to their background stories. I wanted to know more about them and I wanted to be friends.
Calum told me we should get going but I asked him if we could introduce ourselves. He groaned but agreed.

"hello!" I called down the alleyway.
All the couples turned their heads towards me and Calum. Calum waved politely.

"hi." the girl with brown hair said quietly. Everyone else simultaneously said hello back to me and Calum.
"I'm Calum and this is Lily." Calum introduced us.

"Hi, nice to meet you I'm Catherine." the girl with the red haired boy said. The red haired boy told us his name was Michael.

"I'm fiona." my 'look-alike' smiled at us. Her boyfriend introduced himself as ashton.

"I'm Jordan." the brown haired girl said. Her boyfriend introduced himself as Luke.

"What brings you all to NYC?" I questioned.

"we're all runaways." Michael said.

"So are we." Calum said back.

everyone smiled. I guess we have new friends. I'm happy we met them.
