Chapter 1 - London

"WHY YOU GOTTA BE SO RUDE!!" Both my best friend Ericka and I sang along with Rube by Magic while my dad drove us to the train station. It was our first trip alone together, we had been on camping trips and weekends away but that was always with either my parents or her mum. We grew close when we were in secondary school after her dad died, Ericka was close with her dad so when they found out he had cancer it devastated her. Her dad always told her he would take her to London one day but he became too sick to do anything and when he died I promised her I'd take her one day. For her birthday I surprised her with train tickets to go to London. We both just turned 18 and we bonded over our love for all things YouTube! I had everything planned out for what we were going to do in London, I planned for us to go to Summer In The City to meet all our favourite YouTubers. We were from Aberdeen, Scotland and we'd never really met anyone famous before so this was a great opportunity for both of us. I became lost in my thoughts until all I could hear was "Katie! KATIE!" then i snapped out of my thoughts and back to reality. "Yeah?" I  curiously asked, I turned to see both Ericka and my dad staring at me and i turned my head to the window, we had arrived at the train station. We all got out of the car, Ericka and I got our bags from the boot. I hugged my dad and whispered "I'll miss you" to him, he backed out of the hug and looked me right in the eyes "It's only 2 weeks! Go and enjoy yourself for once, I'll still be here when you get back. Now go, I love you" I mouthed the words I love you too as Ericka and I walked towards the platform and with that we waved him goodbye.

"We're finally gonna meet all our favourite people!" Ericka squealed with happiness, I smiled at her as she did a silly dance. I pushed her playfully and she put on a sad face, I started to laugh at her. She then stomped off towards the train like a little kid. I tried to run after her but I kept laughing which slowed me down. Ericka stopped just before the train so i could catch up with her. I stood in front of her with a serious face we both stared at each other. This only lasted for about 3 seconds because we both burst out in a fit of laughter. We then got on the train with tears of joy streaming down our faces.

Once we were seated on the train Ericka pulled out her vlogging camera and started recording herself. She then pulled me close and vlogged both of us until the train started moving. I was new to vlogging because all I did was make my main channel videos but Ericka did both.

It took around 8 hours for us to finally get to London and it was already 2am! The whole way Ericka and I fangirled over our favourite YouTubers. Mines was Joe Sugg (ThatcherJoe) and Ericka's was Caspar Lee, it fit perfectly; they are both best friends and so were we. At one point Ericka started talking about how amazing it would be if her and Caspar just fell in love, right there in London! I laughed at the thought but she still continued to talk about it.

The train had now come to a stop and over the loud speaker the driver announced that we had arrived! Ericka squealed in excitement. "We're here! We are actually here Kate!" She hugged me tight. "Come on, let's go grab a taxi." I nudged her playfully, I grabbed my one medium sized suitcase while Ericka struggled with her 2 large suitcases and her giant handbag. I gave out a little giggle as i exited the train with Ericka lagging behind. We got in a taxi and headed to our hotel, when we arrived at the hotel Ericka checked us in while I slumped myself in a chair in the lobby. I could feel my eyelids becoming heavy and I thought I could just close my eyes for a few minutes but then i heard a familiar giggle and my eyes shot open. "Come on Sleeping Beauty, let's get you to bed!"Ericka was stood in front of me waving a keycard at me.

Our room was huge, it had two double bed in it with quite the impressive bathroom and a little corner with some kitchen stuff. There was also a massive closet, which was lucky for Ericka. When we got in the room I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I dreamt about meeting all the YouTubers and meeting Joe and how I would be mesmerized by how gorgeous he is. Then I was awoken by Ericka jumping on my bed. "Come on! Wake up Kate! Today we're gonna meet Caspar and Joe and.. Alfie and Zoe and..." before she could finish i threw my pillow at her which made her fall on top of me. I squirmed trying to get her off me. "Get off!" I shouted playfully. "Are you gonna get up and get ready?" I nodded frantically at her and she got up and threw some clothes at me "Put this on I think it looks nice on you!" I grabbed the clothes and shuffled to the bathroom, I took a hot shower to see if it would wake me up (which it did!) then I put my ombre long hair up into a messy bun and put the clothes Ericka choose on, she picked out a black skater skirt and my ThatcherJoe t-shirt she also picked out my cat-woman converse shoes. I put some make up on and took one look in the mirror. It was unbelievable to me that in only a few hour I would meet the people who inspired me. I had my own YouTube account that I made make up tutorials and shopping hauls on but I didn't doYouTube for fame, I made videos because it made me happy. There was a loud thump on the door, "Are you ready we have to leave like now!" Ericka shouted through the door, I opened the bathroom door and saw Ericka standing impatiently while she tapped her foot. "I just have to grab my bag and my camera, that okay mom?" I giggled as she sighed at me and then shooed me out the door. She vlogged in the lift, telling the camera where we were going and what we were doing.

It made me think about how I was kind of jealous of Ericka. She had around 5,000 subscribers and I only had close to 2,000. Of course I was happy I had that may to begin with but I wondered why she had more. I was snapped out of my thoughts when the lift stopped on the ground floor.
