Chapter 21 - Something's Going On

Zoe told me to wait for her outside while she grabbed our bags. I waited outside until she appeared, Zoe handed me my bag "What did you tell them?" "Oh I just told them we'd see them later" "They didn't ask questions?" "Nope, now come on I know this really nice place" Zoe led the two of us to a small diner, we went in and sat down. Zoe ordered us 2 milkshakes and a large fries. Zoe tried cheering me up while we ate but nothing seemed to work. She was in the middle of telling a story when her phone started ringing "Alfie calm down, what happened?" Zoe looked scared "Is he okay?" she paused "We'll be right there!" she hung up the phone and grabbed her bag, "Katie can you pay? I''ll meet you outside, be quick" "Wh-?" Before I could finish Zoe was gone. I quickly grabbed money out my ourse and left it on the table. I rushed outside to find Zoe "Katie! Over here!" She was in a taxi, I quickly ran to the taxi and got in. "Zoe, what's happened?" Zoe started mumbling a lot of stuff and I couldn't understand her "Zoe calm do-" before I knew it Zoe was running out of the taxi and I didn't know where we were. I paid the taxi and chased after her "Zoe! Zoe wait!" I ran into some place that looked like a nightclub, I ran up 2 sets of stairs before I finally caught up to Zoe. She had stopped in front of two closed doors "What the actual hell Zoe?" I tried catching my breath before taking my inhaler, when I finally caught my breath I spoke again "Seriously Zoe, what is going on?" she was breathing heavily and she pointed to the doors. I walked up to them and turned the handle when I opened them it was pitch black.

"SURPRISE!" the lights were turned on and music was playing. Zoe came around and hugged me "Happy Birthday!" I was shocked, was this all for me? "It's not my bir-" "Hey Kat!" I turned from Zoe and saw Joe. "Do you like it?" I could feel tears streaming down my face "You did this for me" "Well I had a little help" Ericka walked up and stood next to Joe. "Everyone was in on it" I put my head in my hands, I couldn't believe I thought my best friend and boyfriend were hooking up! Someone removed my hands from my face and now Joe was in front of me he was smiling from ear to ear. "You're bloody amazing!" I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. "But you know it's not officially my birthday?" Joe looked at his watch "Wait" He stared at the watch "Happy Birthday!" I smiled "You're far to good to me!" "I still have another surprise for you" I looked at him puzzled and he smirked, "What have you done now?" "Katie-Kat!" I turned to see behind me.

"Mum? Dad?" I ran to them and hugged them "What are you doing here?" tears dropped from my eyes, "You really think we'd let you go away for your birthday without us?" My mum wiped away my tears, I couldn't believe someone cared for me so much. "Joe and Ericka did this all for you, you should go thank them" I nodded and walked towards Ericka and Joe. "You two are bloody amazing" I pulled them both into a hug. "Hey you three!" Joe, Ericka and I turned to see Jack standing with his camera, "Smile" I stood in the middle of Joe and Ericka then we all smiled, Jack snapped a couple pictures before I ran and engulfed him in a hug "Thanks Jack" "It's quite alright Katie" I turned around to see Joe waiting for me, I walked over to him and he stuck his hand our in front of him "Can I have this dance?" I smiled and took his hand, Joe led me to the dance floor and Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' started playing. Joe wrapped his arms around my waist and I draped my arms on his shoulders "You didn't have to do all this for me y'know?" "Does that mean you like it?" "Of course I do" I paused and looked into his eyes "Thank you" I buried my head into the crook in his neck, we swayed back and forth to the song. When the song ended Ericka grabbed Joe and I "Come on, we're about to take a group picture!" All the youtubers gathered in a big huddle, afterwards I spoke to about 30 different people. I finally met Connor Franta, Ricky Dillon, Tyler Oakley and Jc Caylen. I got my picture with everyone at the party. Ericka had made a slide-show with pictures of me from over the years. It was very cringy! Joe and Ericka had put in so much effort for me.

I was talking to my mum when all the lights went off. Everyone started singing happy birthday, my dad carried a cake towards me with 19 candles on it. Everyone finished singing and I blew out the candles. Jack took  some pictures before I cut the cake.

It was now 2am and everyone had been drinking and dancing but I had barely seen Joe. I quickly ran to the bathroom to try have a breather, I went straight to the sink and looked at myself in the mirror. I better get back in there. Just as I turned to the door people were talking "I can't do this to her!" "She doensn't appreciate you like I do!" "She is your best friend! There is no way this is happening!" "Come on" Joe? Ericka? Before I knew it tears were streaming down my face, I ran out the bathroom and attempted to find Zoe. I couldn't see her anywhere and it was far too hot inside, I ran downstairs and I was now outside. I started walking down the street, I didn't know where I was going I just knew I had to get out of there. I couldn't take it anymore.

My head started spinning and I couldn't see for the tears blurring my sight. I walked into a dark alley and sat on the ground. I held my knees to my chest and cried into my hands. "Woah, look what we've got here" I heard footsteps walk towards me, I lifted my head and wiped my eyes. Two dark figures were above me "Looks like someone's lost" one of them laughed. "Leave me alone" I muttered "Did you hear that?" I scrambled to my feet "Please leave me alone" "Oh look she wants us to leave her alone, can't be having a girl like you roaming the streets alone now can we?" One of the figures had his head in my neck and I could feel him breathing. "We'll keep you company" he whispered in my ear, his hand climbed up my dress "Please don't hurt me" tears were rolling down my cheeks. The figure had now pressed me up against a brick wall. Why did I stop in the alley? The man was now kissing down my neck and he was now undoing his belt. What was going to happen to me? I started trying to make the man loosen his grip so I could get away. "Don't try running or I will kill you" This was it, I was going to die right here in this alley. The bottom of my dress was now lifted up. The man's hand made it's way to my underwear and I knew the only thing I could do now was scream. I screamed as loud as I could and then the man's hand moved from my underwear to my face. He slapped me so hard my lip started bleeding. I was now laying on the ground "Stupid bitch!" "Hey! Leave her alone!" another figure appeared in the alley. The two men ran the other way and new figure moved towards me. I lay on the ground in a ball and cried. The figure crouched down beside me,

"Kat?"
