Chapter 23 - What Happened?

Zoe looked angry, "Zo, can I talk to him for a minute?" She turned to me in shock "please?" Her face loosened "I'll be right outside the door, just shout on me if-" "I will" she gave me a faint smile before storming past her brother. She closed the door and Joe stood in silence.

"Nothing to say for yourself?" "Kat I-" "you know what save it Joe" "Ka-" "You weren't there for me! You were off with my best friend!" I had no more tears to cry, I was just angry. "Maybe I don't appreciate everything you do for me but at least I was loyal!" "Kat listen to me!" "Joe do you even know what happened to me tonight?" I stood in silence "I heard my best friend and boyfriend in the bathroom together oh and two guys tried to rape me in an alley but you wouldn't know that now would you?" "Can I talk for one minute, please?" Joe shouted, I sighed "Fine go for it" "Thank you" Joe moved closer to me, he finally sat on the edge of my hospital bed "I know what happened to you tonight Kat, but I was never in the bathroom with Ericka. I barely spoke to her all night, she was with Caspar the whole night!" "But it-he said he wasn't going to hurt me..." "Caspar didn't want to hurt you because him and Ericka got back together yesterday" "Joe I-I am so sorry" "I can't believe you thought I'd go behind your back with your best friend?" "No but you guys were so close together recently and I got paranoid and then all this stuff happened" Joe wrapped his arms around me as my expression changed from angry to sad. "I can't deal with this all Joe" I could feel a prickle of tears forming in my eyes"You don't have to I'm here now Kat" he sat back in the bed and I curled up beside him. "I love you Joseph" I whispered "I love you too Katie" we sat in silence and I thought Joe had fallen asleep, it was 4am! I closed my eyes but then Joe spoke "Do you want to talk about what happened?" Joe sounded sad "Not right now, I'm exhausted" "okay we'll talk tomorrow" Joe kissed the top of my head and tightened his grip around me.

It had now been an hour and Joe was fast asleep and Zoe was sleeping on the chair beside the bed but I was wide awake. I slipped out of Joe's arms and I walked to the nurses station. I found the nurse that helped me earlier, "Hello darling, are you needing something?" "I couldn't sleep" "How bout we go grab a drink in the cafeteria?" I smiled to the nurse and she led me to the cafeteria. She got me a glass of water and bought herself a coffee. When she sat at the table she took a sip of her coffee and started talking "I'm Nicole by the way" "It's nice to finally know your name" we laughed "I heard one of the other nurses talking about you, you're some internet sensation aren't you?" "I think you've got me confused with someone else" "You aren't Katie-Kat?" I look at the nurse and I was confused, I was no internet sensation. "I am but I'm not an internet sensation, I just make YouTube videos" "I think you should check the internet darling" I got up from the table and quickly made my way back to my hospital room. My phone was back at the house so I grabbed Zoe's from her jacket I unlocked and googled my name. it slowly loaded and the anticipation was killing me. The web page finally loaded.

The first search option read 'Small Scottish YouTuber Katie Monroe hits 1 million subscribers in less than 24 hours' What? I clicked onto the news article, when it loaded I quickly scanned through it. I quickly found my YouTube account to see if it was all true and as my profile loaded I could feel my heart racing. It was true I now had 1,357,210 subscribers! What made this happen? I went back to the news article and thoroughly read through it this time.

'Recently Katie-Kat, as she is know by her fans, started dating YouTube sensation Joe Sugg (ThatcherJoe). The pair have been spotted all around London and back in Kat's hometown, Aberdeen. Kat's recent spike in subscribers was caused by the surprise birthday party Joe and her best friend Ericka Smith (also known on YouTube as Eri-bear) planned for her.'

I continued reading through the article, 'Ericka was surprised by a whole gang of British and American YouTubers (plus one South African). All of the YouTubers took videos and pictures with Kat and posted them all over social media. This may just be the best birthday present ever and we can't wait to see more from Kat!'

A tear rolled down my cheek, they all did that for me? "Kat?" A sleepy Joe sat up in the bed and rubbed his eyes "What you doing?" I smiled at him "Have you seen this?" I held the phone out to Joe and he started reading "Seriously Kat?" I looked up from the phone and I nodded happily "I'm so happy for you!" He got up and hugged me tight. "Thank you" I whispered into his chest. I started yawning "Have you slept?" Joe looked into my eyes, I shook my head in response "Come on sleepy head" Joe led me back to the bed and he wrapped me in his arms. I soon found my eyes closing and I drifted into a deep sleep.
