Third person's POV
Alison looked at her best friends and stiffen as they were looking back at her with curious expression. To be honest she was beyond nervous, as it was the first time her boyfriend is going to meet with her best friend. And not to mention, she already knows she was about to face Xavier with Jacob by her side. She was dreading every passing seconds. Unknowing why but she doesn't want to hurt Xavier, not in the slightest bit. But today he will get hurt and this is what was killing her.
"Alison!" Arabella called out, making the redhead snap out of her mind. Jacob looked at his girlfriend gave a questioning look tilting his head toward Arabella's direction.
"She is my new best friend, I was talking about to you." She clarified.
"I see. Let's go and meet your new friend, babe." Jacob as always gave a charming smile toward his girlfriend before letting her led him to her best friends.
Arabella looked at the redhead, coming toward her with the anonymous man behind her, well Jacob is anonymous for her as this is the first time she is seeing him. He was tall, not so much, but more than Alison. Have deep brown eyes with chestnut hair. Undeniably he has lovely facial features but that might not be appropriate to say for his persona. His aura was cold and evil. That nade Arabella quite wary about his presence.
"Ella." Alison called out her best friend as she was engulfed in a hug by Arabella.
"Ali! I missed you!" Arabella said pulling away making the red head laugh.
"You saw me just yesterday." Alison said feeling happy with her best friend. But a small corner of her heart was sad, trying to find someone's presence.
"Okay let me introduce you properly." Alison said with a smile on her face, but only she knew that it was forced one. "Ella, this is Jacob Williams."
"Her boyfriend." Jacob butted in her talk.
"Right. And Jacob this is Arabella Heatherway, my best friend." Alison finished, trying her best not to look around her.
"Nice to meet you Arabella." Jacob said extending his hand toward her for a shake. Arabella offered her hand but he didn't shaked her hand but kissed the back of her palm. She withdrew her hand immediately.
"Lovely to meet you too finally Mr. Williams." Arabella smiled feeling a little unease, at how his eyes were roaming on her face.
"Excuse me." Both Alexander and Alison excused them as they were immediately surrounded by their business partners, leaving Arabella with Jacob.
"So you are the lucky man who stole my best friend's heart?" Arabella said trying to make small talk with Jacob.
"Oh no no, I've stolen many things from her accept her heart."
"That was extremely deep Jacob." Arabella said cautiously. She was feeling quite anxious about Jacob's presence in front of her, her mind was working, trying to prepare an escape plan, if needed. "It sounds rather wicked."
"I don't mean any evil to her. You can say her soul, I did meant by her soul. Best friends are soul mates, don't you think?" Jacob said smiling down at her.
"Yes. That's agreeable." Arabella nodded. Alison did said once to her that Jacob does have some dark witty sense of humour. But that wasn't witty and humorous, or was it?
Speaking of Alison, she came toward her boyfriend and best friend.
"You are not making her feel uncomfortable now are you?" Alison said with a laugh as she wrapped her hand around Jacobs arm.
"Of course not love!" Jacob exclaimed laughing at his girlfriend. "Was I making you uncomfortable?"
"Of course not." Arabella said giving a forced smile, making Alison frown. "Now if you would excuse me." She said getting away from the couple and searching for her boyfriend. Arabella found Alexander talking with his business associates as she went toward his direction.
"Excuse me gentlemen." Alexander said as he saw his girlfriend coming toward his direction. "How was your talking?" He asked her when he was right in front of her.
"He is weird." Arabella muttered in her boyfriends ear, as he wrapped his arms around her waist before pulling her toward his body. Alexander expression turned angry then cold and void as he greeted the guest.
"Did he do anything?" Alexander asked through gritted teeth making Arabella's eyes widen. She glided her hand over his upper arm trying to calm him down.
" No Alex. He didn't do anything or tried to. But something about his is quite not right. He doesn't seem right." She trailed off as a pair of guest came in their way.
In the meantime, someone was looking at the chatting newly official couple from afar a dark alcove corners. Pain swelled up in their chest, before turning on their heels and exiting the room.
"Did you saw Xavier?" Arabella asked her boyfriend at which Alexander looked around him, but didn't found the familiar figure of Xavier. He looked back at his girlfriend but found her eyes getting fixated on a figure of a man who was exiting the ball room.
"Xavier!" Arabella called out after her best friend. But he didn't heard her, he went out without halting even for a second.
"I need to go after him, Alex. I think he saw Jacob." Arabella said hurriedly handing her purse to her boyfriend's hand. Alexander nodded at his girlfriend as she dashed out of the room after Xavier. But alas for Arabella, Xavier was way too much fast that when she was right outside in the hallway, he was already gone, leaving the hallway deserted of any live except for Arabella.
Where did he go? She thought to herself.
"Xavier!" She called out but got no response.
She took several steps down the hallway and called out for her friend, but was greeted with nothing. She huffed out in defeat, looking around her. A trickling sensation passed down on the back of her neck, the same type of sensation you get when someone is looking at you intensly. She turned back trying to pin point who was watching her but found none. Anxiety started to wash over her as she thought that it would not be safe for her to stay back in the hallway. She will be safe in the ballroom.
That person watched Arabella, as she dashed back inside the ballroom, smirking. Planning on their next move.
