Judith

To my utter surprise neither mom nor dad said a word about me doing the series.

None at all. Not a word.

I waited for it and waited for it , it just didn't come.

I thought maybe they were waiting for me to get over the whole traveling tiredness to launch into the topic. Dinner would be a good time for that. I'll be well rested and the three of us would be together and they can get on with it.

But no.

Not a word about it during dinner.

They asked me about school , how I was doing in class , they even asked about how Tessa was doing.

"I have a charity gala to attend your mom is busy with the new project I was wondering if you would accompany me there."

Dad said.

I stopped eating and put my fork down.

"Umm..

"It will be a great working experience for you."

Wait what?

"You'll get an opportunity to meet and mingle with all our investors and some of our high profile customers. I think you need to know the people we are working with if you are to take up the company and run it."

Ohh , so that is what they are going to do. My parents were going to completely ignore what I have done , what I wanted to do and just simply push me to do whatever they wanted  me to do.

"Dad, I think we need to talk about something."

He gave my mom a look. It meant that she was supposed to make me sense.

"Judith, we understand that you picked up acting because your are passionate about art. We are sorry we overreacted at first but when we thought about it we figured as long as you are focused on your actual career a small, simple hobby doesn't matter."

Hobby?! They think art is my hobby?

"Mom. This is rediculous. It is not a simple hobby. It is what I like doing. What I want to do. Not Architecture. I agreed to do the course only to please you guys. It is not what I want to do."

Dad got up from his seat.

"Judith we had a conversation about this before. You do your course , you take in charge of the company. You leave only and only when you convince us it is not what you are made for. I have kept more than my side of the bargain and I'd really appreciate if you did to."

"Dad"

"The gala is at 7 tomorrow. Get ready we are leaving by 6:30. You are coming I don't want to hear a no."

Bullshit.

This was all sorts of unfair but I was sure even I told him that he wouldn't agree with me.

I shouldn't have been to make that damn promise.

I was too helpless now. I had to go to Gala and I will. Just to humour him.

I was ready by 6:30 exactly like I had been asked to.

I wore a maroon dress , and dark red lipstick left my hair in soft waves down my shoulder.

It was quite the bold look and I would surely stand out to the elite class who preferably dressed in darker colours and elegant make up.

I was going to look different like I didn't belong exactly what I wanted.
