(basically this is like those things in tv shows where it recaps the important stuff from the last episode)

Prologue

"Cloaked turnary beacons, they'll help light the way home when you return. One for Rey, in case you need to come back."

"How did Ekimi know you were leaving?"

"She said it was a feeling."

"Rey doesn't know."

"Rey? The scavenger, right. What doesn't she know?"

"What she doesn't know is that Luke is my father."

"How does she not know? She didn't catch on when you said your name?"

"She didn't say hers, I didn't say mine, didn't think it was relevant."

"Hey, Finn. I don't know if you can hear me, but if you can, I'm going to find my father. We found the missing piece of the map. We're bringing him home. I'll be back if there are any problems. I'll come right back when you wake up, I promise you that."

"I have a shift soon, I'll be busy past your departure. I thought I would say goodbye now."

"I didn't hear you come in. Right, I have to leave soon anyways. I'll miss you, Kim."

"I'll miss you too. There's rumors that The First Order know where we're based now, so it won't be long before they come."

"I'll find you."

"Rey, this is Ekimi, Kim's my friend, she's a doctor."

"Hi, I've heard a lot about you, Rey."

"Oh really?"

"Well, some. But what I have heard is good to hear."

"You ready, Padme?"

"Right behind you, Rey."

"I've been meaning to ask you something. How do you know Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker?"

"Oh, right, I forgot I didn't tell you. It's a funny story actually."

Chewie gargled that they were there.

"Funny story for another time, I guess."

"Are you ready?"

"No, but Rey is. Best not keep her waiting."

A man waited for them at the top, though they didn't see him at first. He had no force signature. Everything had one, even the least sensitive of people. This man did not, and yet Padme could still tell it was her father.

The man must have heard them arrive, as when they stopped moving, he turned. Padme's heart rose to her throat as she saw the face of her father, only he had aged since she last saw him. So had she, which is why she was slightly surprised when he seemed to recognise her.

Rey, still oblivious to their relation, had a plan, which she executed perfectly. She reached into the satchel she was carrying, and pulled out a lightsaber that hadn't been in the right hands since the right hand was cut off.

She held it out for him. It was a plea for his return. A request that the galaxy's last hope could return and save it.

Her hand was out for a while, and both girls began to think he wouldn't take it. But, after nearly a minute passed, he took it silently and reluctantly. He looked at it in his outstretched arm and examined it. He hadn't seen it in 30 years, and it felt wrong to have it again. Just like it felt wrong for his daughter to be there.

Luke looked at Rey, and she at him. They seemed to exchange words through emotions.

But then he focused on Padme, a few steps behind the stranger.

He nearly didn't recognise her. "Padme?"

She smiled the smallest bit. "Dad."
