Aro's Mate

Chapter Eight

The day goes by slowly, I walk with Demetri through the castle and we talk. He is really nice to talk to and I'm starting to enjoy his company. I eat lunch and dinner and then tell Demetri I want to wait in my room until 7:00 for Aro. I decide to get kind of dressed up for our night out. I look through the clothes I was given and find a dark red dress that hangs right above my knees, it's flowy but also just tight enough to show my curves, and it's a V neck so Aro can see some cleavage. I go to the bathroom to do my hair in a tight bun with a few strands hanging down to outline my face. I look at myself in the mirror and I look stunning, Aro will love this. I look at the time and he should be here any minute. I get excited and then hear a knock.

"Amelia my love are you ready?" I come to the door and open it slowly to add some suspense. I reveal myself and Aro gasps.

"My my Amelia, you look magnifico!" he grabs me and picks me up and spins me around. I giggle as he does and when he sets me down I look at him. He isn't wearing his traditional volturi uniform, but instead is wearing black dress pants, a black button up, and a dark red tie that perfectly matches my dress.

"You don't look too bad yourself." I pull on his tie a bit.

"Shall we?" he juts out his elbow for me to grab and he walks me to the front of the castle, and out the doors.

I haven't been outside the castle since I was with my family, the city is beautiful. There are lights everywhere and stars covering the sky. There aren't too many people out, just couples taking late night walks like us and families leaving dinner. We begin to walk and Aro looks at me looking around, he holds me a little tight I notice.

"You know, I wouldn't have done this the first couple days you were here, because I was afraid you might try to run. But I am not afraid anymore, I trust you." His words are so kind and soft.

"Thank you for trusting me, you can loosen your grip though." I wink and he does as I say. We walk in silence for a bit and then he talks again.

"So, when you transition, are you okay with me being the one to transition you? Or would you like my sister to do it?" he asks and I think for a second.

"I want you to." I smile and he smiles too, a little too wide.

"Excited?" I laugh.

"Well if you haven't noticed, I haven't stopped staring at that gorgeous neck of yours, you really are tempting me putting your hair up." He bites his lip and I laugh.

"I guess I can be a tease." I stick my tongue out at him and he stops and pushes me against a wall that is near us, not roughly. He gets his face close to mine and lets his hands travel down my body, he lifts me up so I am taller than him and he kisses my neck lightly and lets his mouth trail under my chin and around the other side.

"How's that for a tease?" he whispers softly in my ear and I get chills like I have never gotten before. He lets me down and I reach up and kiss him.

"Can you sleep in the bed with me tonight? Even though you won't be sleeping?" I ask nervous of his answer.

"Of course I can, I would love to." He says and we both smile and continue to walk along the alleys and streets of Volterra.

We come to a lookout point where you can see the ocean and there is a half wall you can lean against that blocks you from a drop to the ocean below. I stand against it and Aro stands behind me, his arms around me, I feel safe. We stand there in silence just watching the waves below.

"Roses! 4 Euro!" we hear someone yelling in the distance to buy roses at their rose stand.

"I will be back" I laugh and Aro slips away, no one has ever bought me flowers before.

I am standing there waiting when suddenly arms grab me that aren't Aro's and before I can scream there is a hand over my mouth.

"You lost young girl?" a mans voice speaks into my ear and tears form into my eyes. His hand travels up and down my body, grabbing me in places I didn't want to be grabbed. His hand goes up my dress and his fingers are almost inside me when Aro comes speeding back. He grabs the man and throws him to the ground, I have never seen such anger in his eyes. He picks up the man and throws him against a wall. I gasp at his strength even though I knew about it, I'd just never seen it used. The man looks terrified and tries to run but Aro grabs him again by the neck and holds him up above his own head.

"No one touches my Amelia and lives to talk about it." He then pulls the man close and whispers something else in his ear before biting his neck and drinking most of his blood. He then throws the man over the edge and into the ocean. I am standing there in shock. I didn't know what to say. Aro is breathing heavily and looking down at the ocean where he threw the man. He then looks over at me and he can tell I am in shock. Blood is dripping from his mouth.

"Amelia I am so sorry this happened to you I shouldn't have left." He begins to walk towards me but I back away from him and he stops and looks at me confused.

"Amelia?" tears form in my eyes and I run to him burying myself in his chest and he wraps his arms around me.

"I've just never seen you that violent before. For a minute I was more afraid of you than I was of the man." He holds me close and sighs.

"I had no choice, he was going to do terrible things to you. I have never felt such anger in my life." As he speaks of it, he holds me tighter, squeezing me close to him.

"Not so tight, Aro." I try to free myself from his grip, but he doesn't want to let go.

"Aro please" he finally lets me go and I look up at him, he looks, sad? I've never seen him this way.

"I'm okay, I promise. You saved me, and I am forever grateful" I kiss his cheek since his lips are covered with blood. He licks and wipes his lips clean and pulls out his phone, makes a call and then brings me to a bench to sit down.

"Demetri is coming to pick us up, are you sure you are okay?" he puts his arm around me and holds me close to him.

"Now I am." I lean into his chest. No heartbeat as usual. The events of the last few minutes replay in my head. But not the man touching me, Aro killing him is what is replaying. The anger in his eyes was an anger I have never seen in my whole life. He is a killer. And soon I will be too.
