Chapter Three

It was early the next morning and the sun has just come up. Something hit the side of the car making rick Carl and addy jolt awake. Being woken up like that cause addy to start crying. She was rubbing at her eyes and clinging tightly onto rick.

Rick looked around alarmed and saw that it was only Shane waking them up to get ready for the search. He could see the apologetic look on his face when he realised his mistake which caused addy to cry. Rick just held his hand up to him that he would handle it.

Rick pulled her back from his chest and tried to stop her from rubbing her eyes to much "hey now baby girl. It's ok. It's was just uncle Shane. It's time to get up and go get Sophia. I'm sorry you got scared though. Come on now, calm down" he repeats while rubbing her back gently.

Addy started to calm down pretty quickly but now she had her cranky face going. "Oh no, I know they face. She's gonna be cranky all day now isn't she" Carl ask's. Rick laughed while scooting to the edge of the car to stand up. "Yep. And that's just another reason why it's best she stays here while we search. It's way to dangerous for her and us."

Rick stood up and got addy to stand on the tail gate as he grabbed some of her cloths to get her changed. Carl sat right behind her making sure she didn't fall off. "Hmmm, most of your cloths are dirty little miss. It's way to hot for your onesie." Rick looked up at the hot sun knowing it was gonna get very hot for her and that does not mix well with her asthma.

I think we may just put you in a singlet huh? Might help you stay a little cooler." Rick says taking her dirty cloths off and just putting her in clean underwear and one of Carl's singlets." Hahaha dad, it's pretty much a dress on her" Carl laughed cause rick to laugh as well. Addy just folded her arms huffy. She was in a bad mood.

"Alright you two. Come on. Time to get ready." Rick said picking addy up. Carl jumped down and followed him over to where the group had gathered. Rick grabs the back of knives Carl had found the day before and puts them on the hood in front of everyone. "Everybody takes a weapon" he says stepping back so others can get to them. He bounces addy lightly trying to get her to be not so cranky before they leave.

Andrea looks at the knives "these aren't the kinds of weapons we need. What about the guns." Shane says from behind rick while playing with addy's hand, feeling bad about making her cranky "we've been over that. Daryl, Rick and I are carrying. Can't have people popping off rounds every time a tree rustles."

Andrea argues back "it's not the trees I'm worried about" Shane looks up at her as he leans back against the RV "say somebody fires at the wrong moment, a herd happened to be passing by. See then it's game over for all of us, so you need to get over it." Shane finishes slightly annoyed by her attitude and swings his backpack over his back.

Daryl decides to tell everyone the plan "the idea is to take the creek up bout 5 miles, turn around come back down the other side. Chances are she'll be by the creek. It's her only land mark." Daryl starts to walk over to the edge waiting for everyone.

Rick looks around the group "stay quiet, stay sharp. Keep some space between you but always keep within each others sight." Shane walks passed behind rick and puts a bottle in addy's hands as rick turns around "everybody assemble your packs."

Rick walks over to dale who was siting in the steps of the RV "dale, keep on those rap aids. We've got to be ready to move." Dale stands up and nods "we don't want to stay here a minute longer then we have too. Good luck out there. Bring Sophia back."

Rick nods then turns to Carl who was standing with Lori right behind him "keep an eye on Carl and addy while we're gone." Dale nods but Carl speaks up "I'm going with you. You need people right? To cover as much ground as possible" rick sighs and looks at him seriously. Then looks at lori since he knows she would chew his head off if he didn't ask her too. Lori looks back at him and smirks "go on. I can't always be the bad guy." Rick looks back at addy in his arms then back at Carl. Dale looks at all of them "well he has all of you to look after him. I'd say he's in good hands. But I am keeping this little cutie. It's to hot and dangerous for her out there."
