Chapter Seven

Hershel is taking Carl's blood pressure again, he sighs "pressures dropping again. We can't wait much longer." Rick quickly walks up to him "take some more, what ever he needs then I'm gonna go."

Lori steps up "go? Go where?" Rick turns back to her " they said five miles, they should be back by now. Something's gone wrong." Lori looks at him like he's stupid "are you insane? Your not going after them." Hershel speaks up "rick, listen to your wife."

Rick does want to listen "if they got into trouble" Hershel cuts him off "your in no condition to do anything about it.you've given too much blood, your barely on your feet. You wouldn't make it across the yard." Rick hates what he's hearing. He's desperate to do something, anything to save his son "if something happened, I have to go."

Lori grabs onto him "no! Your place is here!if Shane said he'll be back, he'll be back. He's like you that way." Rick turns to her "I can't just sit here!" Lori yells back at him "that's exactly what you do! If you need to prey, or cry or tell god he's cruel you go right ahead. But your not leaving for anything. Not for the group, not Shane, not that child. Carl needs you here! I can't do this by myself. Not this one. I can't."

Rick looks back at her shocked. Every part of him wanted to scream at her for calling addy 'that child'. Not his baby girl. But he always knows now is not the time. She was right about one this. Carl needed him. He knew addy was with the group so he needed to be here for Carl.

Rick had been siting in his seat watching Lori and Carl for a while now. His mind finally shut off for a bit. But now he can't stop thinking about addy. She's out there without him. He knows how she gets, what if another herd came through. He just wanted his baby in his arms safe and sound. He wants Shane to hurry up and get back safely. He want Hershel to save his son. He wants them both awake and in his arms. A tears falls and he whips it away before anyone can see.

"What you said before, you were right. Shanes gonna make it back with what the doctor needs. He'll make it back." Rick says staring at the wall. Lori looks at him "Hershel said you need to eat."Rick doesn't hear her "Carl's gonna be alright." He looks up at lori. He believes it with everything in his heart. He refuses to believe anything but that.

They stared at each other for a few minutes until Lori begged him "please, for me? You gotta keep your strength up." Rick looks down at Carl. He knows he needs to do it for Carl and addy. But part of him still wants to do it for Lori. He loved her. He still wants to love her but he just can't move past the way she is with addy. He may not want to call himself her husband anymore but she is still the mother of his kids. He will still be there for his family.

He reaches over and grabs the sandwich that had been made of him and starts eating. Lori watch's him eating, she feels like she finally got through to him. She thinks she's finally getting her husband back. She smiles to herself.

Hershel is checking Carl's blood pressure again. Rick sits there watching carefully, preying he would just get better. Lori is sitting beside him, with her hand on his back trying to be affectionate. They hear someone walk in. Rick looks up shocked to see glen and t-dog standing there. Addy in glens arms. He signs in releif at seeing her but then noticed her breathing wasn't right.

Glen quickly walks over and places her in his arms. "Dale said she had a couple of attacks throughout the day. No big ones. He thinks the heat just got a little to much for her. I brought all her stuff." He puts her bag down beside him. And backs up over to t-dog.

Rick looks down at addy in his arms. This hole time he didn't know she was suffering. He holds her tightly then looks over at Carl. Having both his kids in such a bad way is breaking him.
