Chapter Twenty Eight

Carol and Maggie were helping to get some of the sleeping area's put out. Right now everyone's pillows were in a pile and addy thought it was be funny to jump in them. Maggie and carol her a thump and spun around quickly, looking for what made the noise but addy being so small was now hidden by the pillows.

Maggie got closer and looked around still not seeing anything. Addy chose that moment to throw her hands up, throwing some of the pillows "boo!" Maggie fell backwards in her butt. Hershal and Beth quickly came into the room at the sound only to see what had happened. They all started laughing and Maggie grabbed addy and tickled her "Oi you little monkey! Scaring me like that!"

Addy squirmed around laughing and trying to escape as rick walked in. He laughed as she called out for him "daddy!" Rick laughed again and jogged over, quickly scooping her up and saving her from Maggie tickles "I got ya!" Everyone still laughing at this short moment of happiness.

Rick nodded to everyone and started walking outside with addy on his hip "me and Daryl are about to leave soon. You want to come say bye bye?" Addy nodded while sticking her thumb in her mouth. Rick didn't have the heart to make her stop. Before all this she was still using her pacifier because the doctors said it was ok for a little bit longer. Now she doesn't have one at all and he knows she's struggling to self sooth without it.

They walks outside to see t-dog and Daryl by the blue truck. Addy brightened up and yells "dowl fuck!" They all laughter "no baby, it's look Daryl, a truck. Can you repeat that for me?" Rick asked but addy just shook her head, stuck her thumb in her mouth and put her head back down on his shoulder. She could be stubborn about talking.

He got down to the others, ready?" Daryl nodded and grabbed his crossbow "yeah." T-dog said I'll get the package." Rick thanked him. Addy looked at him "pwesent?" Rick smirked and shook his head, kissing her cheek as he turned to Daryl who was placing the last couple of things in the car.

"Rick!" T-dog yelled as he ran to them. Rick tightened his hold on addy as t-dog got to them "Randal....he's gone" they were immediately alarmed. Some of the others ran out when they herd t-dog yelling.

Maggie quickly got down the steps to Rick, to take addy off him. Addy wasn't happy about that, she was scared and just wanted her daddy to hold her but he and the others were quickly off searching. "Shush sweetheart it's ok. Daddy will be back in a second ok?" But addy just shook her head and cried more.

Everyone was out looking for any signs Hershel stayed close to Maggie and addy "how longs he been good?" Rick walked out of the barn putting his hand on addy;s back "it's hard to say. The cuffs are still hooked. He must've slipped 'em."

Carol questions "is that possible?" Andrew followed behind rick "it is if you got nothing to loose." Hershel closed the door "the door was secured from the outside." Before anyone could say anything else they herd yelling "rick! Rick!"

Everyone came around the side of the barn to see Shane emerging from the tree's covered in blood. Lori ran forward "what happened?" She held onto shanes arm tightly as he walked towards rick "he's armed!mhe's got my gun!" Carl was shocked "are you ok?" Shane smirked that Carl's attention was on him and they were falling for it "I'm fine. Little bastard just snuck up on me. He clocked me in the face.

Rick didn't believe him but he needed to get everyone else safe just in case "all right! Hershel, t-dog! Get everybody back in the house. Glen Daryl, come with us." Addy started screaming because Rick was about to leave when she was so scare "nooooooooo!" Rick was back to Maggie and kissed addy's head "baby stay here. I promise I'll be right back! Carl! You and addy need to say in that house you got me?!" Carl nodded quickly and was at Maggie's side instantly trying to help her calm addy down who wouldn't stop screaming.

Shane called out to t-dog "T, I'm gonna need that gun." Carol called out though "just let him go, that was the plan, wasn't it? To just let him go?" Rick replied "the plan was to cut him loose far away from here, not on our front step with a gun." Carol yelled back as they started walking about  "don't go out there! Y'all know what can happen!." Addy started crying harder at that, thinking she was gonna lose her daddy again. Rick yelled back angrily because those words upset her more "get everybody back in the house. Lock all the doors and stay put!"

They all started moving, Maggie trying to calm addy down but she was just getting more upset and was now starting to cough. Hershel was by her side helping to make sure she didn't trip with her.

Once they were inside, Hershel grabbed her nebuliser to help her breath better and hopefully calm her down some. He make sure Maggie was holding it right before he walked off. Maggie didn't know what he was doing but she was scared and didn't really know what do to with addy.

Hershel didn't take long though and was back by her side. Maggie couldn't see what he had grabbed but watched carefully as he checked her "ok her breathing is fine for now, we just have to help her calm down." He took the mask away from her mouth and replied it was an old pacifier."

Maggie frown but the. Noticed it was her old one. She didn't know he still have it." Rick told me before she was never Weined off of them, it's gonna be the easiest way to calm her down without rick.

Maggie looked around for Carl thinking he might be able to help but didn't see him. Lori came back down stairs "Carl?" Maggie asked Lori replied "I told him to stay up their, where it's safer." Maggie just nodded.

It was starting to get dark so everyone else started getting things ready for the night as Maggie walked around bounding addy in her arms. She was not exactly calm but she was no longer screaming and crying loudly although tears would still fall down her cheek every so often.
