Chapter Seventeen

It was early the next morning, addy had woken rick up. She wanted to spend time with then others. Rick got her dressed and looked down at her in wonder. He couldn't believe his little girl was actually 3. She was a lot smaller then the average 3 year old and behind in her speech development but when he remembers the day she was born, the doctors telling him to be prepared because they didn't think she would make it a week, then it was a year. He knew his little girl was strong. Already going beyond what the doctors thought and would continue to grow.

Addy was feeling pretty good and wanted to try and dress herself. She felt proud when she got her cloths on although right after rick had to fix her cloths since she didn't have them on right. It she didn't care, she felt like a big girl. Her daddy walked to the door and opened it waiting for her but she ran back to grab her now clean sloth stuffy since they had finally cleaned it for her.

She quickly grabbed his hand and followed along. They came to Carl's room right as he was coming out. She smiled up at him as he hugged her. Rick led them outside and over to the group who were sitting down for breakfast. Carl sat first beetween Lori and rick. Rick sat down and pulled addy up onto his lap. She waved around at everyone, happy to be sitting with everyone this morning.

Carol was handing out food to everyone and turned to rick "do you want hers on a separate plate?" He shook his head "no thanks carol, it saves washing and we like sharing." Addy smiles up at him. She agreed. Most of the time she would only eat along with him. Rick would feed her a bit ever so often while also feeding himself. Between bites addy was also playing with her sloth.

Rick went to feed her another bite but she shook her head "no daddy, Carl too." Rick smiled and looked over at Carl who scrunched up his face. He wasn't ever jealous of his dad and sister, he didn't need to be fed by anyone but when he looked at her grabbing ricks hand and pushing it out towards him eagerly, he couldn't help but give him. He leaned forward and took the bite. Rick smirked knowing he was embarrassed by it.

Addy was happy at feeding Carl and then happily took the next bite rick offered her. Since she was only little, she didn't eat nearly as much as everyone else so once she was full, Rick finished off the rest himself. Rick saw hershel come out of the house. Rick had thought long and hard and knew he needed to go talk with him again.

Addy looked up to see her daddy looking at the fire. She looked around to see what everyone else was doing but stopped when she saw her uncle Shane looking at her weird. She felt scared and thought maybe she had been naughty but couldn't remember doing anything bad. She was trying to hard to be a good girl for daddy.

She turned back to rick and tried patting his cheeks but he didn't look at her. Now she really thought she did something wrong if daddy was ignoring her. She looked down sadly. Lori watched this then leaned over and tapped ricks arm again, a bit harder the. Addy had done. It did the job and broke rick out of his thoughts.

Lori whispered "where'd you go right now? Addison was trying to get your attention" rick looked at her for a second the down at addy who was looking down sadly,. He felt bad, he turned back to Lori "I'm here..just thinking. Thanks." She nodded and went back to eating. He cuddled addy tighter and kissed her cheek "baby don't be sad. Daddy was just thinking."

Addy looked up at him with her bottom lip sticking out "daddy not mad at me?" Rick frowned "of cause not baby, why would you think that?" Addy smooshed her face into ricks chest "unc shay mad at me. What I do?" Rick looked up and saw Shane still staring right at addy and he really didn't like they way he was doing that. Rick tightened his arms again and kissed her head "no baby, you didn't do anything wrong, he's just being mean." He felt her nod against him.

They were interrupted by Glenn walking up in front of everyone looking nervous. Glen was clearly uncomfortable "umm, guys......so......the barn is full of walkers." Everyone froze when he said this. Addy knew that ment there was monsters close. She started whimpering and dropped her sloth in the ground to cling tighter onto rick. Rick and everyone else stood up quickly. They all began quickly making there way to the barn. Rick felt a tap on his shoulder and looked back to see Daryl. Daryl held out addy's sloth to her, knowing she really needed it right now. But when she didn't even look up rick nodded to him and took it for her and continued to lead the group to the barn.
