"Engineer, VS left a note. She wants to see you in her office."

Kagagaling ko lang sa bahay ni Marcus dahil this week na ang house blessing no'n. I stopped by VSC to check my unfinished work bago bumalik sa site sa Cavite. Pero mukhang male-late ako nang kaunti dahil gusto akong kausapin ng boss ko. Vallerie Scrutch is the owner of VS Constructions. Kabado ako dahil bakit naman ako pinapatawag?!

Umakyat na ako sa office niya para kausapin siya. Employees greeted me sa elevator at pati ang mga nakakasalubong ko. When I reached the office, I knocked three times before entering.

"Good morning, Engineer AD." She greeted me and signaled me to sit. She was in her mid 30s but she looked younger and beautiful.

"Good morning po." Sagot ko bago naupo.

"The reason why I wanted to talk to you is to check on you." Sabi niya at nakita ko ang pag-aalala niya. "I heard what happened and I'm very sorry of your loss." Then she held my hand.

It has been almost a month since that incident happened pero ngayon lang nalaman ng karamihan dahil ang asawa ni Reese ay galing sa malaking pamilya. He was sentenced with rape and frustrated murder, pati na rin homicide and was sentenced reclusion perpetua dahil nabunyag rin na hindi lang kami ni Reese ang naging biktima niya.

Henley and Ellie were furious at the trial. Pero ako, nanlalambot ang tuhod ko whenever I see that asshole. Matthew, my family, and Reese's family pursued the case kahit malaki ang pamilya ng lalaking iyon. Good thing, we have provided a lot of evidence at maraming lumabas na witnesses.

"I'm better, Engineer." Sagot ko naman at binigyan siya ng ngiti.

"You can take a leave to recover if you want." Pag-alok niya sa akin. I immediately shook my head.

"Okay lang po ako. My work actually helps me recover." Sagot ko.

I feel better when I'm with people at nasa trabaho. Dahil kapag hindi, makukulong lang ako sa bahay dahil nasa trabaho si Matthew. I wanted to go back to my normal life.

"Okay but if you change your mind, just let me know." She gave me a smile.

"Thank you for the kind gesture, Ma'am." I smiled back.

Umalis na ako after our talk and went straight to Cavite para sa leisure place. Ngayon naman ay nasa pools na kami at mga ibang parte ng leisure place like the mini theme parks.

"Good morning, Engineer!" Sinalubong ako ni Kuya Marco at inalalayan papunta sa site.

Everyone became very careful with me since that day. I also promised myself to always take care of me. Lalo na kung mabibigyan ulit ng pagkakataon na magdala ng buhay. Kahit si Matthew ay palaging magtetext kung kumakain ba ako sa trabaho. Minsan, kapag may free time siya kahit 30 minutes lang, hahatiran niya ako ng pagkain. Pero madalas, ipagluluto niya ako ng healthy food para baunin.

"Ito ba 'yung 6 ft.?" Tanong ni Kuya Marco at itinuturo ang hinuhukay sa lupa.

"Yes, Engineer. Sa tabi ni pavilion 'yung pambata." Sagot ko naman.

Sabay sabay kaming kumain ng lunch. Nagpacater si Kuya Marco pero may baon ako. Inilabas ko ang lunchbox sa paper bag na binigay sa akin ni Matthew.

"Aba! Ang sweet naman pala ng kapatid ko, ano? Ni hindi ko nga mapagprito ng itlog noon, e. Pero ngayon, aba! May pa salad na!" Biro ni Kuya Marco nang sulyapan ang laman ng lunchbox ko.
