Chapter 6 - Emmalin

The same day....

"What is wrong with this city won't I be able to find a job here?" I am searching for a job since Saturday but haven't found one yet. I am losing my patience. I know Rachel said she would call me but I am second-guessing her offer. It's not like I can't handle working with her brother it's just that whenever I am around him I am unable to process myself then I get frustrated and lash out that's what happened on Friday night.

When we returned home from club that night, Riley and Maya started interrogating me like I am some criminal and they are my defense lawyer.

"How do you know Mr. Black?" Riley asked, crossing her hands sitting on the couch across to Maya who is sitting with me and staring at me like a Hawk.

"I don't know him, Riles. I just met him at the airport before you guys came looking for me." Riley nodded.

"He was so hot, and Oh God did you see the way he was looking at you like you were the only one out there." Maya sighed and Riley smiled. I rolled my eyes.

"He was just shocked to see me there nothing else. But what is with these questions?" I was irritated now and started getting up but Riley stopped me.

"Fine we won't say anything else. But there is something between you two I know that you won't agree but that is why you got irritated and started arguing with Mr. Black." Maya explained.

"Even if there is I don't want to know and I don't care. So please drop it," I said glancing at Maya then at Riley.

"Fine, but listen if Rachel calls you then please accept the job. It's a well-known company and they pay a good salary. People die to work there. Also, I will be there it will be so much fun to work together in the same place. Although we won't be working together we could have lunch together." Riley exclaimed her excitement.

"I will think about it but if I find a job before Rachel calls then I will take that and you won't say anything," I warned her.

"I promise," Riley said and started clapping her hands like a child does when she gets a present. I smiled and Maya rolled her eyes.

I have to find a job my savings can only cover for this month I am running out of time. I was lost on my thoughts when my phone started ringing and I sighed when I saw the caller Id.

What do I do now? I muttered and picked up the call.

"Hey Emma, Rachel here," Rachel said with her sweet voice from the other side.

"Hey Rachel, how are you?" I smiled listening to her voice made me smile.

"I am good and you sound good too. So listen I called you to ask if you are still interested in working for my brother." So she doesn't beat around the bush.
I am not sure what to do I don't know how I can work for someone who is so intimidating and make me lose all my control. But I want money I haven't found any job yet.

"Emma, are you there?" I heard Rachel asking.

"Yeah, I - I am," I said, then closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

Here goes nothing.

"Yeah, I will work for your brother," I answered her.

"That's so great, Emma." I know she is smiling her big infectious smile. I asked the question I was waiting to ask.

"Your brother fired his secretary?"

"Oh yeah, he finally did. Listen, I have to go, but you come to the office tomorrow with Riley we will talk about your work then?"
