Ch 7

NICK POV:

It's Thursday and I'm in 6th period zoning off little. My friends invited me to go to the basketball game with them. Their boyfriends are on the team. I mean... I should go, it'll be fun... I hope. I just need a distraction and this could be perfect. I heard the bell ring so I got up to go find Avani and Dixie and tell them that I'm coming. I saw them at their lockers so I went up to them.

"Hey guys!! I decided to come to the game with you!" I exclaimed.

"Yay Nick! I'm so excited you decided to join us! It's going to be super fun!" Dixie said excitedly.

"Yes this will be super fun!! We are going to my house before, wanna come!?" Avani asked.

"Sure!" I said hoping that what they're saying about it being fun will be true.

Avani drives us to her house and let's us in. We headed up to her room and I plopped down on the bed. Dixie and Avani ran over to her closet. They came out wearing a bunch of clothes and accessories in our school's colors. They then head over to the bathroom to, I assume, do their hair and makeup. They came out with writing and drawings on their faces with a little bit of glitter as well.

"Wow, you guys really go all out." I said, a little surprised with them. I didn't know they got so dressed up.

"Yeah, we always do it!! Do you want some face paint???" Avani asked me with a weird smile on her face.

"Uhhh yeah, no..." I responded. Her eyebrows furrowed and then she started chasing me. "AH," I screamed.

"Hahahah" Dixie said, laughing at me.

"Dixie help!!" I yelled to her. She just kept laughing.

When it was time to go, we all got in Avani's car. I didn't drive a car to school or to Avani's so I didn't have one. We just jammed out to our favorite songs and got a bit to eat before the game. They were decked out in our school's colors but I wasn't. I didn't mind though, I don't have a boyfriend or anyone I'm related to on that team. We walked into the school together and found a spot in the student section. I went on my phone while Avani and Dixie talked to a couple other girls that had a boyfriend on the team.

Soon enough, our team was out on the court warming up. I saw Tony out there... and god do I love a man in uniform, woah. He looked so hot. I could only focus on him.

"NICK!!" Avani screamed in my ear. I turned to her. "Are you okay? I've been trying to talk to you!! Are you not having fun!?"

"Yeah I am fine Vani. Just a little distracted. Don't worry, I'm having fun!" I replied in hopes that she would ignore the fact that I said I was distracted.

"Oooo so you're distracted are ya?? Does lil Nicky have his eyes on someone?" She said wiggling her eyebrows at me.

"... whaaat , noooo," I lied.

"You know I can tell that you're lying! You're lucky the game is starting! We will be talking about this later!!" she exclaimed.

"Fine." I retorted.

The game was starting and Tony was out there first. I saw him look at me and wink, then look away. I felt my face turn bright red. I turned away from Avani a little so that she wouldn't see. The game went on, Dixie and Avani were cheering super loud for their boyfriends. I also heard Addison Rae, one of the cheerleaders, cheering for Tony. That made me a bit angry but I shook it off. I watched Tony for awhile and he was really good. I also realized that he was one of the captains along with his brother.

The game was almost over and it was super close. With about 30 seconds left, Tony received a pass from Ondreaz and made the game winning basket. The crowd went crazy! The team celebrated together and then went to shake hands with the other team.

"Wasn't that so crazy!?" Dixie asked me.

"Yeah!! That was pretty fun, thanks for inviting me you guys!" I said to Avani and Dixie.

"Of course!" They both said.

"Feel free to join us anytime!!" Avani told me.

We then walked out to the lobby and talked. They were waiting for their boyfriends to come out of the locker room. They all came out and I made awkward eye contact with Tony, then turned away.

Ryland came up behind me and said, "Sup shawty!"

"I noticed you in the student section. How was I?" he asked.

"You were great! Congrats on the win Ry!" I exclaimed.

"Thanks buddy. I'm going to go talk to some more people. Catch ya later Nick!" he said. I just smiled and nodded.

"Hey Nick... Avani and I are going to head out with our boyfriends. Can you find a ride?" Dixie asked me, sounding a little guilty.

"Oh yeah, no problem! Have fun!" I said. She smiled and thanked me before leaving.

Ugh who am I kidding!? I can't get a ride home. Ryland already left. My mom is still working... and god forbid I call my dad. I really do not want to be near him, let alone in a car with him. He is out of town for a work trip anyway. I sigh to myself and walk towards the gym. The lobby was almost empty. I noticed an extra basketball by the benches. I picked it up and started playing with it. I am not actually too bad at basketball but I'm not good either.

I was just shooting some baskets when I heard, "Not bad," come from a darker figure leaning against the bleachers. I froze. The figure walked towards the light and I realized that it was just Tony.

"What are you still doing here T?" I asked him.

"I could ask you the same..." he said, ask you the same." he said as he grabbed the ball from me.

"Hey! Give that back!" I yelled.

"Make me!" he taunted.

I ran up to him and tried to take it back. That didn't work too well. I then ran up to him again, his back was facing me. I just hugged him and he surprisingly lost control of the ball.

"I'm pretty sure that was a foul!!" he said, laughing. I let go of him and he went to pick up the basketball.

He threw the ball towards me and said, "Come here, I wanna see your free throw."

"I don't know about that."

"Come on!! I'll help you!"

I walked over to him and he stepped behind me. He put his hands on mine and positioned them correctly on the ball. He helped me shoot, and it went in!! I turned to him and gave him a hug.

He broke the silence by saying, "But seriously, why are you still here?"

"My ride ditched me for her boyfriend." I replied. He made an O-shape with his mouth. He then started walking towards the door. I just watched him.

He turned around and asked, "Well... you coming?"

"Oh..." I walked up to him and then said, "Are you sure you can bring me home?"

"Of course. In fact, I would love to drive you home, Nicky." he said. I blushed at the nickname.

"And why's that?" I asked

"Because I get to spend more time with you, cutie." He just smirked at me and picked up his pace a little. My face heated up a little. 'He's such a flirt...' I thought to myself.
