Chapter V

~Five weeks later~

Tara

"It's alright Tara maybe you just have the stomach bug." Corie says rubbing my back.

At the moment I was puking up my guts into the toilet. It has been five weeks since I had talked to Aiden and I was still really upset about what he said.

"Corie I think we both know that isn't it." I say, getting up to wash my mouth out.

"I know but, we don't know that." she says quietly.

We stayed silent for a moment as I brushed my teeth, getting out the bad taste.

"Yeah that's the thing we don't know." I say sadly.

Having a baby would probably ruin all of my chances at college. I would probably be shunned as well by my family.

"Tara, just so you know, if you are pregnant then I will be by your side every step of the way; and you won't have to worry about money, because I am going to help with that.", she says hugging me, "Let's go and get some tests, alright."

I nod and follow her out of the bathroom. Grabbing our coats and purses, we make our way out to the car.

We didn't speak as we drove to the nearest Walgreens. Thoughts were circling my head. Was I going to be a good mom? Would the kid even like me? What would happen when they started asking about daddy?

Corie suddenly turned off the radio that was playing softly in the back ground.

"So hey, if you are pregnant, will I be the baby's aunt?" She asks seriously.

I couldn't help but laugh at her, finding the positive things out of the bad.

"Yeah I guess." I say smiling.

"Hell yes!" She says excitingly fist bumping the air.

Rolling my eyes I turn the music back up,"But that means no cussing in front of the baby, if there even is one."

Corie smiled and started nodding head to the music,"True, True."

"So have you heard from Daniel any?" I ask curiously.

I couldn't help but ask considering he was the closest person to Aiden at the moment.

"He texted me the other night. He said he missed me and stuff and couldn't wait to see me.", She said smiling lightly.

Just the fact that she smiled at the mention of his name told me that she really liked him.

"Do you think you will? You know see him again?"

"I hope so. I really, really hope so." She says dreamily.

I smile at how happy she looked, as we pull into Walgreens. Daniel was the guy for Corie. She had not even looked at a guy since the last time she saw Daniel, which was about four weeks ago. He had come by the house to see her, telling her he had business back in Ireland that would take a few months. I only hoped that Aiden would come back with him.

"Okay so will three do?", She asks picking up three First Response brands.

I nod and we walk up to the cash register to check out. It was pretty embarrassing though considering that the check-out boy, who couldn't be more than fifteen, was blushing madly. Well kids this is what happens when you have sex.

In no time we were back at the apartment and in the bathroom.

"Okay so it says you need to wait about five minutes after you pee on the stick. So you wanna drink so water? Or maybe some Mountain Dew?"

"Water is fine." I say getting a little nervous.

Corie tosses me a bottle of water which I down quickly. After that another one went down to and I was soon peeing on the tests.

As we waited those long five minutes, Corie and I sat silently on the couch. It seemed like years until the alarm on our phones went off, signaling that the five minutes were up.Slowly we walked into the bathroom.

"You want to see if first?" Corie asked as we leaned against the door frame.

"N-No you first." I say nervously.

Corie took a deep breath before walking over and picking up the first stick.

"Positive." she says slowly.

I let out a shaky breath,"Okay the next one."

"Positive." She says again.

"And the last one?"

"Positive." she says finally.

I walk over and take a look for myself and sure enough six pink lines stared back at me. It was official, I'm pregnant.

"I'm pregnant." I say softly.

A little human being was growing inside of me. A little human being that was half of me and half of Aiden. I'm going to be a mommy.

"Well, I guess we are having a new edition to the family Huh?" Corie says hugging me.

"Yeah." I say nodding.

I place one of my hands on my stomach. My baby was growing there. Right under my hands. Wow.
