TARA'S DRESS TO THE SIDE--->>

Chapter X

•TARA•

"Okay you have the dress and shoes. Now, hair and makeup."

At the moment Corie was helping me get ready for my date with Asher tonight. The dress I am wearing is a deep blue with cinched sides and an attached jacket of the same color and fabric. The dress hugged my slight curves and emphasized my baby bump, but in a cute way.

"So what's it gonna be my sexy baby momma? Fish tail braid or curls." Corie asks playing with my hair.

"How about a Fish Tail Braid half way and then a ponytail of curls; or will that look totally weird?" I asking wringing my hands, beginning to get nervous for tonight.

"Actually I think that would be cute, something new Huh!" Corie says smiling at me in the mirror.

Then she starts on my hair...

•AIDEN•

"So the construction will be completed in the next few months, that is guaranteed. Also the rogue population has decreased immensely. Seems they have decided to move on, so maybe keep an ear out for other packs. Also Alpha Burd called with that information so I think maybe you should call him- thank him?"

With Daniel gone, my third in command was taking his place for the time being. Jared was probably one of my best friends, excluding my brother of course, but I don't think that counts.

"That sounds good, especially on the rogue problem, that's a relief. I'll call Alpha Burd, later on. Construction sounds good. Thanks Jared."

"No problem bro- I'm mean Alpha."

I growl playfully and shake my head. Jared was always the jokester, making us all laugh, which made me like him a lot.

"So Jared how's that mate of yours?" I ask as we begin walking back to the pack house.

Jared was probably the luckiest guy I knew besides every other mated guy in my pack. His mate, Rebecca, was probably the nicest person ever. She was the pack doctor, chef, and in her free time she helped with the pack kids. She was like Super Mom or something, considering they have two kids together and another on the way.

"She's great. Our five year anniversary is coming up soon and she is dropping hints like crazy."

We both laugh, considering that Rebecca got everything. She wasn't spoiled, she just loved presents and surprises. Jared loved that he got to shower her in gifts, but what he loved possibly more than her, were their pups. Julia and Jacob, the obnoxious but overly cute five-year-old twins.

"Any ideas?" I ask with a smile.

"Besides hers; A few. Maybe the cliche candle lit dinner by the coast, but I'm not sure if her ankles will like the walking."

The ankles comment hit a soft spot in me, reminding me of Tara. Daniel was right, I didn't know what was going on. She might be pregnant, whether it be mine or another guys. She could be getting married, but I really do hope that out of all of those it would be she was pregnant with my baby.

"Aiden, look I like to count myself as your best friend, and for good reasons. Something is upsetting you. You don't have to tell me what it is, but I just hope you know I'm here, dude, if you need me."

We were silent for a moment before he said,"Ah shit that was really girly Huh? Damn, I'm hanging around Becca to much. Guy's night soon, for sure."

I laugh and nod internally to myself. I had to tell someone else.

"I found my mate- in America. She's human and we had pretty much a one night stand, except it was both of ours first time. She left thinking she was just another lay and thought I wouldn't want her there. So when Daniel gave her my number, because he found out she left and told her about me being a virgin and all, she called and me being an idiot tried to 'protect her' and acted like a total prick. Now I have no idea what has happened to her. I tried sending people to watch out for her but they got attacked by vampires. Gosh I just don't know anymore."

I finished my monologue just as we reached my office and I plopped down into my desk chair.

"Dude, I'm sorry but that's fucked up. What exactly did you say?"

"Stuff like it was a one night stand and I didn't intend for it to go any where else, so don't contact me ever again. I beat myself up over what I said everyday. Jared, I'm beginning to forget what she looks like, do you know how much that hurts me and my wolf?"

I wanted to cry, bawl my eyes out, because of the fact that when I tried to picture my mate, now a I could see was her body and hair, no face.

"Look maybe you can, I don't know, when construction is over, go and try to win her. If she is your mate she can't really say no right?" Jared says leaning back and scratching his ear.

" I don't know, all I know is that if I get the chance I'm going to do whatever the hell I have to, to make her fall in love with me."

•TARA•

"Are you sure I look alright?" I ask for probably the millionth time.

"Yes woman! You look sexy! If I wasn't straight and taken if do ya. Now hurry up, he will be here any minute." She says rushing to the door.

Just then the door bell rang and Corie opened it, but it sure as heck wasn't Asher.

"Daniel!" Corie screams in confusion but excitement.

"Hey baby." he says with a smile holding his arms out for her.

Corie doesn't hesitate to jump into his arms and squeal.

"I missed you so much! Why didn't you tell me you were coming? Oh my gosh I look like an ogre!" She says frantically letting go.

"No you look beautiful; and why would I give up the opportunity to surprise you like that huh?" He says pulling her back into his arms.

I couldn't help but smile and he slowly rocks her back and forth with his head buried in her hair. I felt as if I was intruding on a private moment but I couldn't take my eyes away.

Corie quickly smashes her lips to his in a brief kiss before turning to me,"Oh Tara, sorry, Daniel just showed up! Oh my gosh I missed you so much!"

Corie was excited to say the least, disoriented even. Daniel's sudden appearance had probably surprised her the most. I now had to pull my eyes away as they began to make out in the entryway.

Hating to break it up, I cleared my throat,"Sorry but I kinda have o get through there live birds."

"Where are you going all dressed up?" Daniel asked trying to make the situation less awkward.

"She's going on a date!"

"A date? With who?" Daniel says becoming a little cautious.

"His name is Asher, Asher Fleming." I say with a smile.

Daniel seemed to be fighting back mean thoughts, so he just nodded. As if on cue Asher walks up to the door but stops when he sees Corie and Daniel.

"Um hi." Asher says nervously with a small wave as Daniel glared at him.

"Hi Asher." I say pushing around the love birds.

Asher then immediately smiles,"Hey! Wow you look- beautiful." He says giving my body a slow once-over.

"These are for you."

He then hands me a bouquet of Red Roses. There had to be at least two dozen or so.

"They are beautiful! Thank you so much!" I say blushing as he smiles brightly at me.

"I'll take those. You two have fun, Have her home by one." Corie says taking the roses from my hands.

Daniel still hadn't said a word but just as we were about to leave he leans in and holds out his hand to Asher,"Take care of her alright?"

Asher was hesitant at first but then shook Daniel's hand," Will do."

So with that Asher placed his hand on my mid-back and guided me to his car, and into a wonderful night.
