Dylan's POV

The rest of dinner went quickly, and Missy hardly talked to me, but honestly, I wasn't complaining.

Trying to deal with her was very hard and whenever she talked I wanted to tell her no one really cared what she had to say.

I know what her brother said, but I can't do this anymore.

This is the last year of high school, so it doesn't really matter who hates me, and honestly at this point I'd rather take a little beating than be associated with this girl any longer.

Besides if it means Marina will talk to me more again, I'd do anything to get that back.

Even when she was mad at me and cursing at me I liked talking to her. But then I started talking to Missy and she didn't talk to me as much.

I don't know why that happened but since she stopped talking to me it made me think maybe I did kind of like her.

We're all walking up to the haunted house and Marina is cracking jokes, making all of us laugh, except Missy who's on her phone still doing whatever stupid shit she does.

Marina makes a funny face as part of her joke and all of us laugh really loud, which breaks Missy's concentration from her phone and she says, "Ew what the hell you look so ugly. Also, that joke wasn't even funny, but nice try."

Everyone is standing there completely still with their mouths open, but before anything else happens, Marina quickly responds "You know, you shouldn't talk about yourself like that, it's not good for you! And clearly if the joke wasn't funny, no one would be laughing but they are, so how about you keep your lame ass opinions to yourself?"

Damn, the way she just told Missy off was so hot, I think in my head.

One thing I miss about talking to her was how she says what's on her mind and doesn't care about others opinions.

Most girls I've met would just be stuck and not know what to say if that happened to them.

Not Marina though, she's always able to get her voice out.

Liking Marina was so easy, and when I realized how much I might actually like her, it surprised me.

Before her, I never had a strong connection with anyone. The other girls I was with were all shallow and nasty, so I didn't have a real relationship with them.

All I did was sleep with them and stop talking to them afterwards.

Marina truly amazed me though. Not only was she bold and strong, but she could also be super caring and is always fun to be around.

She lights up the room whenever she's there, and if anyone's in a bad mood, she could make them feel better.

And don't even get me started on that face. God, she's beautiful and doesn't realize it.

The way her wavy brown hair frames her face is perfect.

Her eyes always look like they're sparkling which goes along with her energetic personality.

Her lips were a perfect heart shape and every time I see them, all I want to do is grab her face and kiss her.

I've known her for a little over a month but it feels like a lot longer.

Missy breaks me from my thoughts and in an irritating tone says, "Dylan I'm not going in this haunted house I'm too scared"

"Alright then, see you after!" I wave at her and smile fakely as I walk away. I could tell she was furious, but I didn't give a crap.

I walk with the others and suddenly see Brent and Marina laughing and then giving each other a quick hug.

Are you fucking serious?

That's it, I have to talk to her. This can't continue.

Marina's POV

Once we were at the haunted house, I started to get really excited and was cracking jokes to make everyone else happy.

I was also hoping that it would help with the odd tension that carried over from dinner.

Everyone was laughing, and when I made a funny face after one of my jokes, the group laughed even louder.

Missy then looks up from her phone, and says "Ew what the hell you look so ugly. Also, that joke wasn't even funny, but nice try."

Who the fuck says that to anyone?

Before anyone can say anything, I speak up and say "You know, you shouldn't talk about yourself like that, it's not good for you! And clearly if the joke wasn't funny, no one would be laughing but they are, so how about you keep your lame ass opinions to yourself?"

Missy just rolls her eyes and jumps back in her phone.

I turn to Brent and his eyes are wide. "That was the best thing EVER! You totally put her in her damn place! I'm so happy right now" he declares making us both laugh.

He then says quickly "Here comes your future man, this is our time to make him jealous!"

I smile, rolling my eyes, and as he finishes talking, he pulls me into a hug, which only lasted for a second, but when he pulled away and we turned around, Dylan was standing there watching.

He looked pretty mad and kept looking between us but then held his gaze on Brent to give him a dirty look.

"So where's princess Missy" I ask making Brent and Amber's date laugh.

Amber didn't look very happy with me, because even though Missy was a bitch she was still somehow friends with her.

Dylan on the other hand let out an angry breath and was shaking his head in disgust.

"She decided to stay behind. Oh and Marina, I need to talk to you for a second" Dylan states with a serious look on his face.

"Alright fine... Amber can you buy us two tickets and get in line? We'll be over in a second"

Amber shakes her head yes and Dylan grabs my arm and pulls me over behind the bathroom building that was next to the haunted house.

We stand there awkwardly for what felt like forever, and he was just staring at me.

I start to feel uncomfortable under his intense gaze so I try to break the silence.

"Dylan what's wro-" He cuts me off and steps even closer to me, which I didn't think was possible.

"What the hell are you doing to me? What are you trying to do, huh?"

As he finishes his statement, he licks his lips. His eyes flicker down to my lips, where they stay for a few seconds then he looks back up into my eyes.

My breathing quickens and I can't help but blush. Thank god it was night time or I would've been exposed.

"Dylan, I'm not doing anything... what's the problem?" I was so flustered I could hardly get my words out.

He then took a step back and said "You know what, never mind, let's just go back."

I stand there for a second not knowing what to do and completely unable to move.

What the hell was that??
