Dylan and I walk back to the other group, and I keep replaying what just happened over and over again in my head.

Once we reach the others, I throw the thought out of my mind and try to focus on anything but him.

We excitedly walk over and get on line, but I can't stop my thoughts and suddenly find that I'm staring at him, thankfully without him noticing.

When we finally get to the front of the line, two of the workers standing there say we have to break into groups of three.

Brent goes with Amber and her date, leaving Dylan and I, and some other little kid.

As the three are walking into the haunted house, Brent whips around and gives me a quick thumbs up and wink without anyone seeing.

I chuckle quietly and can't help but roll my eyes.

After a few minutes, the workers say it's our turn, but the kid who was going with us said he refused to go without his friends.

He was younger, so the workers gave in and told Dylan and I it will just be us.

Oh boy this ought to be good...

The two of us step into the haunted house and as the doors close it becomes a lot darker and I become more afraid.

Don't get me wrong, I love these things, but I've always had a fear that the actors in these places aren't actually fake and somewhere in here is a killer.

I know it sounds crazy and will probably never happen, but that's just how I feel.

We walk with caution through a tight hallway and on the other side, a man jumps out at us in a clown costume and I gasp really loud.

Dylan then lets out a loud laugh that scares me and I flinch, making him laugh even more.

"Well well, could it be that the tough as nails Marina is actually afraid" he says making fun of me.

"Shut up O'Brien, I'm not even scared right now, I was just warming up" I snap back making him chuckle

"Alright Cole, if you wanna hold my hand cause you're scared, you just let me know" he states with a wink

"That won't be necessary O'Brien, I can promise you that."

Just as I finish my sentence, a mummy prop falls from the ceiling in front of us and I jump to the side, grab Dylan, and hide my face in his chest.

He wraps his arms around me and whispers "What was that about not necessary?"

I punch his arm lightly but then take his hand and stay super close to him.

For the remainder of the haunted house, I feel super safe beside him with his hand in mine.

He seemed pretty content too. Once I took his hand I saw him smirk and the entire rest of the time we were walking through, it didn't leave his face.

We finally make it to the exit and walk up to the rest of the group.

I look over to see Amber with her eyebrow raised looking at me.

I make a confused expression at her and her eyes go down to my hand, which was still entwined with Dylan's and I hadn't even realized it.

Oh shit , I think to myself and slide my hand away from his.

Part of me wished I could've just stayed like that at least for a little longer.

Something about it was just so comforting and calming.
