Friday went super fast, and the whole day I made sure I avoided Dylan. Most of the time, he was with whoever that other girl was, but we still had classes together.

It was extremely awkward sitting next to him. There were a few times where it looked like he wanted to talk to me, but thankfully he didn't.

It's now Saturday, which means homecoming's today.

I'm about to head over to Carlos's house to get ready, but at this point, I'm not even in the mood to go to the dance.

I know if I don't go though, my friends will freak out and never forgive me.

I do have a plan to make things more fun... I'm raiding my parents alcohol cabinet before I head over.

I'm not usually one to drink, but right now, I just want to clear my head. Besides, my parents are hardly ever home, so it's not like they'll notice.

I go to the cabinet and find a bottle of Malibu. I pour a good amount into a water bottle, screw the lid on, and head back to my room. I gather my things and head out the door.

I blast my music on the ride over, and hop out in a good mood. I head inside smiling and greet Carlos's mom.

She tells me the others are upstairs, so I head up to Carlos's room.

"Wassup y'all" I say still smiling

"Hey Marina! Love your energy right now but are you sure you're ok? After what happened the other day you sped off and didn't really talk to us yesterday either" Krista states with a concerned look on her face

"Ahh let's put that in the past! I'm ready to have a good night"

"All right but if you feel like you wanna leave at any time or are just upset let us know, ok?" Carlos asks with the same concerned look as Krista

"I'm good guys, seriously" I say putting my makeup and dress down.

An hour later, we had dinner, and were all changed and ready to go. We had a few minutes to spare before Carlos was going to drive us over to the school.

I pulled out my bottle, causing Krista and Carlos to turn their attention to me.

"Marina is that what I think it is?" Krista asked with a kind of chuckle

"Yess ma'am" I respond unscrewing the cap and taking a sip

"Girl are you sure you're good?" Carlos asks biting his lip

"Yes I promise" I say, jokingly holding my hand to my heart

"I wish I could participate as well but I'm driving your dumb ass" Carlos says rolling his eyes, which makes Krista and I laugh.

I finish my drink and start to feel so much better. All my stress is gone, and although I'm still thinking about Dylan, the thoughts don't hurt me.

Everything's a bit blurry, but I didn't care, I felt loose and warm inside.

We hopped into Carlos's car, he turned up the stereo, and we drove off.

The windows were down, and we were all singing. It was cool outside, so the air felt super refreshing against my skin.

"Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd came on and I let the music in the car take over my senses.

I was smiling like crazy and singing out the window. Right as the song was ending, we pulled up to the school and parked.

We were about ten minutes late, but it was like the whole school already got there.

I feel even more relaxed than I did before. Clearly the alcohol didn't take full effect until now.
