After sleeping in the next day, I scramble to get ready in time for Krista to pick me up.
She said she wanted to make sure we didn't go too late in the day so that the good dresses were still there.
I didn't care so much, but she wanted to make sure she looked, and I quote, "bomb af" for our last homecoming.
I see her pull up to my house and I run outside. I get in the car, buckle my seatbelt, and we take off.
The first five minutes of the car ride, she was blasting her music and there wasn't much talking, but then she turned it down and began to word barf questions at me
"So what happened with Dylan at his door last night? Did you flirt? Did he ask you out?"
She tries to continue but I cut her off saying, "Woah woah woahhh slow it down. We were talking about meeting up later today just the two of us. I asked him if it was a date, but he said only if I want it to be. So now I'm confused. Like what the hell is that supposed to mean? Also what if he just said that cause he felt bad and didn't know how to respond?"
"Well shit that's definitely an unclear answer Marina, but I think he's leaving it up to you, because he's the one who doesn't want to be embarrassed. From what I can tell, he wants it to be a date, but if you don't he doesn't want that to ruin anything, so he left it up to you. That's my take on the situation" Krista says with a little shrug.
"Well what do I do?" I ask
"The real question is how do you feel. Do you want it to be a date?"
"Krista are you kidding? Of course I want it to be a date!"
"Well then let's make sure he can't resist you, but first dresses!"
We walk into the mall and when we reach the dress store there are only two other people.
Looks like we got here at a perfect time.
"Alright Marina, split up and meet at the dressing rooms in fifteen" Krista says excitedly and speeds away
I choose three dresses then head over to the dressing rooms. I had about five minutes to spare before we showed each other our dresses, so I sit in the seats and wait for Krista.
My mind almost immediately goes to Dylan and our hangout later.
I want to make sure that it goes well, but I'm also a bit nervous. What if I try to get close to him and he tells me he doesn't want more than a friendship or something?
Krista's voice pulls me out of my thoughts, and she says "Let's try these on! I'll go first!" She quickly decides on a dark blue, A-line, off the shoulder dress.
"Your turn" she says with a clap.
I look at all three dresses I picked out. I wasn't paying much attention when I picked them out, so I find that the only one I really have interest in is a sparkly gold body con dress with thin straps.
I try it on, and luckily it fits perfectly, which surprises me.
I don't usually like dresses that much, but this one was amazing. The gold complimented my tan skin and dark hair.
I step out from the dressing room and watch as Krista's jaw drops.
"Oh honey, you look incredible! You have to get that one! If Dylan sees you in that he won't even know what to do"
"Oh shut up" I say laughing at her. We finish up and pay for our dresses and walk back to her car.
"We gotta get home fast so I can make you look like wifey material for your date/hangout" Krista states.
