Previously: "There's always a choice!"
"That's just it, Christina," Adam suddenly said flatly as if he'd come to a painful realization. "You had a choice... You knew you could be with me, or you could be with Adam douche-bag Pascal, who I've met by the way, and he's a fucking dick, or some other big shot art dude... and you picked them, you let them be the one to - to be with you, and to t-take you home... I just can't even think about it, it makes me sick."
Tears began slipping down Christina's cheeks and she held her head down to hide them as her heart splintered into tiny pieces. They'd only been together a couple of days and already Adam was calling her out on the mistakes she'd made. Decisions she could never undo. No matter how much good she did him now, no matter how much love she showered him with, suddenly she felt like maybe it would never be enough. Her breath quivered as she tried to collect herself.
"For a start," Christina began, her voice sounding unlike her own. "I didn't choose them over you... I wanted you back, Adam, but you were already with Claire... and do you think I didn't lie there crying every night over the fact that she was with you? In your bed? I may have been the one to have ended it, but you're the one who moved on." Tears spilled into Christina's lap, every drop reminding her that they really needed to get out of this restaurant immediately or else risking ending up on the cover of a cheap magazine. But she just sat there and listened to him breathing heavily next to her. She willed him to speak but he just wouldn't say anything and the silence terrified her.
"I thought you said you forgive me..." Christina finally whispered dejectedly, her voice breaking.
Adam sat there in silence for a few more moments before he finally spoke, his voice in pieces. "I thought I did, but - but to tell you the truth, the thought of you being with someone else, right now it's - it's killing me, Christina."
Christina's heart pounded with broken beats.
Adam swallowed hard as he looked away and shook his head. "I just don't know if I..." he tried to finish his sentence, but it just drifted away.
Christina felt herself turning white. "Do you mean..." she whispered.
"I don't know, Christina," Adam replied dejectedly as he looked back at her, his eyes pooling with sadness. "I don't know if I can do it."
The pain that attacked Christina's heart was so sudden and slicing, she felt like it was pinning to the chair. She couldn't even believe this was happening. The thought of losing it all now - so soon after she had got it back - it was unthinkable. It felt like a pain worse than death.
Feeling her chest beginning to heave with sobs she couldn't prevent, Christina suddenly rose up in her seat and threw on her coat. "I have to go..." she whispered breathlessly, unable to look at the beautiful man sitting next to her in shock as she turned to rush out of the restaurant.
She felt him hot on her heels as she pushed open the door and was slapped with cold air. She wandered out into a haze of people, voices and lights, as she vaguely registered Adam calling her name behind her. But she didn't turn around; she just kept walking in a straight yet aimless line, trying to see through the blurry tears that were showering her cheeks. Suddenly, his familiar scent reached her nose as she felt his hand on her shoulder turning her around. She just held her hands up to her face and sobbed into them as he pulled her into him and hugged her tightly. She wanted so badly to open her arms and fold them around his warm body, but right now the thought of being close to him in any way made her heart shatter, so she just stood there and let him hold her.
"Shh," she heard him breathe gently as she felt him release one arm from her body for a moment as she buried her face in his warm coat; feeling like this may be the last chance she'd ever get to touch this person that she never wanted to be without. She heard a car pull up next to where they were standing and lifted her face up to see that Adam had waved down a taxi. He pulled back from her to open the door and Christina didn't hesitate to climb inside, Adam sliding in next to her and shutting the door behind him. Not even a fraction of time passed before he pulled her tiny body into his as he wrapped his arms tightly around her, telling the driver the name of the place he wanted to go to. Christina felt her face lift a little in surprise under his warm, broad arm, before she pressed her face back into his chest and allowed the tears to fall.

No words had passed between them since the restaurant as Adam kept his hand laced tightly with Christina's, holding like it was made of diamonds, as he closed the taxi door and led her down to the waterfront. While the air was cold, it wasn't as icy as it could have been for that time of year, and the warmth of their hands and the intensity of the situation kept them both from feeling the brunt of the elements.
For a little while they just walked together in silence through the spot they'd visited years before, on one of the days they fell deeper in love when they were still promoting The Voice. It was a place they'd both taken photos of and tweeted on separate days as love-drunk messages to each other, when Adam had written, "I want to stay here." It was a deeply special place for them, and the fact that Adam had brought Christina there so soon after their fight was like dousing the fresh fire of her fears with a bucket of kerosene. She couldn't help but wonder if this wasn't some sort of dramatic goodbye gesture after what Adam had said to her. The tears that had dried on her eyes came back to life as she suddenly turned around to look at him, her move cueing him to stop walking. He just stood there and looked down at her, his face sad as he used his knuckles to brush the tears away from her eyes.
"If you don't think you want to be with me, I -I just want you to know that I can't be here with you... in New York," Christina whispered, her voice cracking in the wind. "I have to go home."
Adam's brow creased immediately as he stepped in closer to her. "I do want to be with you, you know I do," he said softly as his eyes burned into hers. The electricity between them could have powered the city that sprawled out behind them.
Christina looked up at him, feeling hope lift her heart for the first time since she left the restaurant. "You do?" she replied.
Adam took her hands in his, warming them as he stroked her fingers. "Of course I do," he said as he looked down at her. "My god, I've done this all for you, Chris, I - I'm so sorry for what I said, I - I just, fuck, I don't know how to channel my jealously with you... it makes feel like I'm crazy, and I - I didn't handle it well. As usual. I know I need to work on it." He looked sheepishly at their joined hands as he rubbed their fingers together.
Christina pulled his hand up to her mouth and pressed her lips into it, before holding it against her cheek. "I love you so much, Adam." she whispered, her voice still splintered. "It scares me how much. And I just feel so terrible about it all - about the past... I don't know how to fix it." She shrugged helplessly.
Adam stroked her cheek softly as she held his hand there. "You don't have to fix it," he replied softly. "And I don't want to keep bringing it up, either... I just need you to - to be patient with me. A lot's happened. I think it's gonna be hard at times. I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too," Christina replied, her face falling as she looked down. "I'm sorry for everything."
Christina suddenly felt Adam's arms around her as he pulled her into his chest. She breathed heavily into the soft material, folding her arms around him in a tight embrace. "What you said tonight..." Adam said softly, his voice straining a little as he breathed in her hair. "About me being the one who - who moved on..." Christina felt her whole body tensing up. "You were right," he continued tightly. "I mean, I don't think I ever really moved on, but I did get pretty close. And you - you didn't." His voice was thick with regret.
"Adam..." Christina cut in softly, not wanting him to blame himself for even a second about their separation.
" - No," he said quickly but gently as he squeezed her. "I want to say this." He cleared his throat. "I want you to know that I - I only moved on because I thought you were never coming back."
Christina felt like her heart was literally bleeding out of her chest, wetting her skin, until she realized the moisture was from her tears. She felt Adam gently pulling her face back to look up at him, his face creasing when he realized she was crying softly again. He wiped the tears away, his eyes blazing with emotion.
"Don't you get it?" He whispered, looking directly at her. He moved his face closer to hers, hovering his lips so close to her mouth she could taste his sweet breath. "No matter what I say to you, Christina; no matter how fucking stupid I get sometimes... you have me. You've always had me." Christina felt her heart spreading out of her chest, flooding her body with a warm, enveloping love as he stroked her cheek. "You're not the other woman," he said softly. "You're the one. My one and only."
And as Christina opened her mouth to reply, all she could taste was him as his mouth closed over hers.
Adam's eyes appraised the gorgeous profile of the blonde that sat across from him in their hotel suite's enormous circular bath. As he gazed at her, she kept her eyes pinned to the rainbow of New York lights that glittered through the floor-to-ceiling window in front of them.
I can't believe you're mine again.
Christina turned and looked at him, blushing softly when she caught the gaze of appreciation he was giving her. For a moment they just held eye contact, the invisible rope that chained them together tightening and pulling as a thick heat engulfed the room again. Christina sighed softly as she saw Adam's eyes drop down and hold themselves to the top curves of her breasts, inspiring her to raise her body out of the water a little so the water lapped lightly against her nipples, hardening them under his gaze. She felt her breath quicken as she noticed Adam's pupils quickly dilate, his bottom lip opening slightly as he drew in a breath.
You're so sexy when you're turned on. Christina thought. And I love how easy it is to turn you on. Her eyes drank in the droplets of water that beaded all over his broad shoulders, the tops of his muscles rippling in the water, his thick hair roughened by the steam. She suddenly felt a burning ache strike her between her thighs as she imagined what might be going on under the water as he continued to lick and suck her chest with his eyes.
Christina licked her lips a little, reveling in the newfound confidence she'd stumbled upon over the past few days that she wasn't quite ready to let go of. "I'm hungry," she suddenly whispered under her breath, her eyes blazing. Her heart began to beat a little faster at her own fortitude.
Adam's eyes flicked back up to meet hers. "What?" he asked, his eyebrows lifting with surprise. "You ate half the restaurant. I thought there were gonna be riots."
Christina released a tiny chuckle. "No..." she replied, as she inched her body a little closer towards his, their eyes staying fused together. "I'm hungry..." she breathed, her eyes painted with a seductive flirtation. She dropped her gaze down to the space between his legs that was masked by the water as she inched even closer.
Adam's eyes darkened and his brow rumpled with desire as he realized what she was saying. "You are?" he asked, his voice turning thick as Christina arrived in front of him, sitting in the water as she looked up at him.
"Very," she replied, her lips curling into a little pout. She twisted her brow like she was suddenly feeling deeply unsatisfied.
Adam reached his hand out and gently pulled her bottom lip open with this thumb and slipped it inside. Christina instantly met the soft digit with her tongue, running it along the tip as Adam's tongue fell to the front of his mouth. "Do you want me to feed you?" he breathed, his erection already throbbing so hard he felt like he could explode in the water like a fountain. He slid his thumb deeper inside Christina's soft, wet mouth and she wrapped her lips around it, sucking tightly.
"Please..." Christina replied as she released her mouth from his thumb, her heartbeat in her throat as Adam suddenly sat up in the water and positioned himself on his knees. Christina gasped as water poured off the enormous erection that sprang out near her face as he sat up higher, while she stayed submerged with her legs folded under herself.
"Hmm," she murmured as she wound her hand around the thickness that was inches from her face, his excitement seeping out of the top as she pulled the tip towards her tongue and licked it off as he moaned. "I like the food here... my compliments to the chef," she said huskily as she used her tongue to the entire soft tip with long, wet licks. She lapped at him several times across the top, back and forth, all the way up the length from bottom to top, and around the base. Adam just moaned hard as he reached out and grabbed a fistful of Christina's hair, holding it tightly in his hand as her head continued to move below him.
Christina hovered her lips over the tip, taking it inside the front of her mouth, but just leaving it suspended in there, teasing him as she refused to close her lips into a suck. She looked up at him, her eyes tantalizing as Adam looked down at her with her breath hot against his tip, pulling her hair tighter in his grip until she winced. "Don't play with your food," he ordered, his command cueing Christina to suddenly seal her lips around his soft tip as she sucked. Her eyes fed on the look of Adam's face crumpling with arousal as he took the top of his dick in his hand and rubbed it all over the outside of her lips. Christina let him rub himself over face before she caught him with her mouth and opened it, feeling his hips thrusting gently towards her face as he slid himself inside her mouth as she opened her lips with acceptance. They both released simultaneous moans as Christina began moving her head forwards and backwards to meet each of Adam's thrusts, both his hands fisting her hair as she began pumping up and down his impressive length with her mouth. Christina closed her eyes and salivated the sweet taste she reached around and cupped his ass with her hands, feeling moisture gushing between her legs every time Adam thrust himself into her mouth or tugged at her hair, using it to pull her face upwards slightly so he could get a better view of her sucking him off. And she just sat there and let everything around her fall to black except the all-consuming pleasure of just sucking him; up and down, back and forth, deeper, wetter, as the hard-as-steel yet velvety soft shaft filled up her mouth and throat. It wasn't long before Adam was crying out, his fingernails digging into Christina's scalp, his hands twisting and pulling at her hair, as she continued her relentless movements, her lips closed in a tight, wet suction as she consumed the delicious taste and sensation with everything she had to give. She soon felt the tell-tale sign that Adam was about to come but wanted to save himself, as he quickly grabbed onto her head with both hands and tried to pull himself back, but the gesture only encouraged Christina to suck harder and deeper, wanting the explosion that she knew was imminent.
"Don't take it away," she pleaded with a pout, before returning her lips tightly around him, digging into his ass with her fingers as Adam gave up with a moan and returned his hands to her hair as he continued making love to her mouth. Christina looked up at him, her mouth stuffed full as she met his darkened gaze, his face twisting as she began using her lips and tongue in skilled combination. She released one hand to wrap it around his base and begin stroking him as she licked and sucked, using her other hand to knead his ass before dropping it down underneath to gently cup his balls. She fondled them in her hand as she swallowed as much of his length as she could, swirling her tongue around him she suddenly felt all his muscles tensing under her touch. She smiled a little to herself as she felt a sudden, hot burst of liquid explode into her mouth, Adam's hard, husky moans soaking the air as he emptied himself inside her. The taste bleed into Christina's lips as she swallowed every drop, murmuring with appreciation as she drank him up, letting nothing go to waste.
"Fuck, Chris," Adam breathed as he slid himself out of her mouth and dropped back into the water, pulling her red, swollen lips into a scorching kiss, tasting himself on her breath.
Christina's cheeks lifted with a smile as she suddenly grabbed him with both of her hands, trying to playfully tug him over to what had been her side of the bath. Adam laughed at the vain attempt to overpower him, and instead, in one swift move he'd turned her around so her back was facing him, and pulled her into his chest. He wrapped his arms around her tiny perfectly shaped body and held her as she leaned her wet hair against his chest. He sighed heavily, his chest still heaving as he placed numerous kisses on her hair in thanks for the gift that she had given him.
"You're amazing," Adam breathed, his nose nuzzling into the scent of her shampoo.
Christina chuckled softly. "And a bit insatiable, sorry."
She could feel Adam smiling into her hair. "No complaints from me."
"Can we just stay here forever?" She asked with a sigh, her hands sliding around to rest on top of his as they stayed clasped around her waist.
Adam laced their fingers together as he rested his chin on her head. "I get freakishly white and wrinkly in baths. You might not like me anymore."
Adam chuckled softly. "Duh, New York," she replied, her lips curling into a smile.
Adam smiled back into her hair. "Well, you know, I like to tell myself I'm part New Yorker so it's cool with me," he replied, both of them knowing that, right now, it was impossible for either of them to live anywhere other than Los Angeles.
"Can we stay for a while though? More than just a few days?" Christina asked shyly.
She felt Adam's heart rate increase a little next to her ear as he pulled her tighter into his chest. "I'd love to."
Christina just smiled and spun her slippery body around on top of his so she could kiss him again, this time gently and lovingly.
When she pulled back and locked their eyes together, Adam noticed that something a little more serious had come over her. He titled his head in invitation for her to say whatever had come into her mind as he stroked her hair.
"I want to ask you something..." Christina said softly, still lying her body on top of his as they stayed stretched out in the bath. "But I - I don't know if it's too much."
Adam swallowed tightly as he continued to caress her damp hair. "Go on."
Christina exhaled loudly and looked down at his chest. "I know you don't really have a place to live right now, so I just wanted to - to ask..."
Adam felt like his heart was hammering right through his chest as Christina continued nervously. "If you need a place to stay... I mean, if you want to stay with - with me... you know you can."
Adam felt like he couldn't speak as he looked down at Christina, his heart choking up with so many emotions: fear; confusion; love, as Christina slowly lifted her eyes to look back at him.
"I want you to come home, Adam." She gulped hard. "If you want to, of course."
Adam felt his heart twist with a feeling so strong it frightened him. An enormous part of him felt like it would be the most foolish decision in the world to move in with Christina so soon after everything that had happened. He also hated to think what people - what Claire - might think about it.
But those were head problems. Because his heart was already shouting out an answer from the top of the Empire State Building.
I want to come home, Christina.
Let me come home.
