-Come on in children., said the principal.
The teens walked in, the girls holding hands and the boys holding hands. The man sat down on his big office chair and cleared his throat.
-So, what happened in Miller's lesson?, asked the man.
The group looked at each other, waiting for another to talk, but no one spoke up. Max sighed.
-Gabriel called Mike and Will faggots, so I stood up for them. Mr. Gray agreed with Gabriel and told them to stop holding hands and because they didn't obey, and I used pretty informal words and Jane helped, he sent us here., explained the redhead.
-So, what you're saying is that Gabriel used a homophobic slur and Mr. Gray encouraged it? And he then got mad at you for fighting and standing up for you friends?, asked the principal.
-Yes sir., replied Eleven.
-Are you?, wondered the man.
-What?, asked Mike confused.
-Are you together? A couple?, asked the old man.
-That's not the point., said Max.
-No, of course not. But I would like to know., replied the principal.
-Why? To suspend them?, asked the redhead getting worked up.
-No, of course not. I want to know, to help and encourage them and make them feel welcome in this school, because it shouldn't matter who you love or who you want to be with. Everyone should be treated equally., explained the adult man.
-Oh, uhm, okay. I'm sorry., said Max looking down.
-It's ok, don't worry. Will, Mike?, asked the principal.
-Uh, yes. We're...together., replied Will looking at his boyfriend.
-Ok., nodded the man.
-Sir?, said Eleven.
-Yes Jane?, asked the adult.
-Max and me are also together. Girlfriends., said the girl shyly.
-Ok. Are you all happy with one another?, wondered the principal.
-Yes sir., replied Mike pulling his boyfriend closer.
-Ok. I will now have a little talk with Gray., explained the man.
-He's getting a warning?, asked Eleven.
-No. He's getting fired. I don't tolerate such behavior in my school., said the principal getting up from his seat.
The teens looked at each other, relieved and smiling.
-And for Gabriel?, asked Will quietly.
-He'll get suspended for two days and detention for 2 weeks., smiled the man.
Max hold a smile back, nodding.
-Now go go. Math class is waiting., said the principal opening the door for them to leave.
-Thank you so much sir., smiled Mike.
-Of course. Now if there's ever a problem, you can always come here., explained the man.
The teens nodded and left the room. But they still had some time until their math class, so they decided to go sit on the grass outside the building. Eleven laid down, Max joining her and putting her head on the brunette's belly. Will and Mike rather just sat in front of each other, talking.
-Max?, said Eleven.
-Yes?, asked the redhead.
-We could have told him about Madison., replied Eleven looking at the sky and the clouds.
-We would have gotten in trouble., explained the older girl.
-No, because she started it., replied the brunette sitting up, making Max sit up as well.
-Yes, but you almost hurt her with the knife and used your powers. And I beat like 4 girls up. Wait, didn't they get in trouble, since Mrs. Muller had walked in and helped us?, asked Max.
-Sorry for eavesdropping, but you do know that Madison is Muller's daughter, right?, said Will joining in on the conversation.
-Wait what?, screamed Max.
-Yes. You didn't know?, wondered Mike surprised.
-No! Oh shit, we're so dead., said Max looking at Eleven.
-What even happened?, asked Will curiously.
-Madison and her friends wanted to hurt us and we didn't let that happen. That's all you gotta know. No details needed., explained the redhead.
-You should tell the principal., suggested Mike.
-We have no proof and Mrs. Muller would do everything to protect he girl., replied Max.
-Max, we do have proof., interrupted Eleven.
-What do you mean?, asked the redhead confused.
-Stacey. She saw us and she called Mrs. Muller. And I mean, Hopper is a cop, so he would help us., replied the brunette.
-We are not telling your dad., answered Max firmly.
-Why not?, said Eleven frowning.
-They almost...did something bad to me, and I don't want pity or anyone to know it. So it's a no. End of discussion., replied the redhead clenching her jaw.
-But Max, she needs to pay for whatever she did., said Will.
-I said no! Okay?, yelled Max, getting up.
-Max!, said Eleven following the redhead who was walking away.
-Leave me alone!, replied the redhead.
-No!, screamed the brunette.
Max was opening the door when it slammed close again. She tried again but in vain.
-Eleven stop that!, yelled Max.
-No., said the brunette approaching.
-Leave me alone., replied the older girl firmly.
-Max, talk to me. What is really going on?, wondered Eleven.
-N-Nothing, okay?, answered Max.
-This is not nothing. Please., said the younger girl as she grabbed Max's hand gently.
The redhead sighed and sat down on the steps. Was she finally going to open up about some things?
