After the whole incident at the base in Brooklyn both Jahmier and Chance have been keeping their heads down. Agents caught wind of what happened, and they were mad. So to avoid any and all confrontation; they've taken to traveling on the rooftops and underground. Jahmier preferred the rooftops but of course there were times where there were no buildings to travel on. So here they were, in the sewer underneath one of Brooklyn's many streets. Jahmier used the sleeve of his jacket to cover his nose from the smell as they walked through the dirty underground. "So you're telling me there's supposed to be some secret base here?" Jahmier asked once again, earning a sigh from Chance who was simply just tired of all the questions. "Yes just please be patient, we're close." He said for the one hundredth time and turned his attention back to what was in front of him.
A few more minutes of walking went by before Chance saw a symbol that looked oddly familiar. "That's it." He said to himself as he walked up and knocked three times in a rhythmic tone. The two waited patiently for someone on the other end to open up. A hissing sound rang out and the two watched as the door slid open and revealed a dark skin boy at the entrance. His hair was braided and had beads on the end. "Chance?" He asked and Chance nodded his head. The boy stepped to the side and let both Chance and Jahmier walk in before letting the door slide close behind them. "Welcome to the underground, we don't have an official name just yet." He said and stuck his hand out for Chance to shake. "My names Miles." He said with a small smile and Chance accepted the handshake.
"You already know me, and the kid with me is Jahmier; he's mutant. Elemental." Chance said quickly glancing in Jahmier's direction who gave a curt nod to Miles. Miles nodded back and motioned for the two to follow. He led them down a hallway and made a right leading into an open living room like area. How the hell they managed to find furniture and other things Chance had no fucking idea. Jahmier was amazed by how well put together the place was and wandered off while Miles spoke to Chance. "We heard you and your mutant destroyed Brooklyn's section. That true?" He asked and Chance nodded his head. "Yeah, it got a bit out of our control but we cleared that shit out." Chance said with a bit of pride. Miles nodded his head.
"I gotta give you props for that, two people taking out a whole section of trained agents? Yeah that's some real boss ass shit. I want you to meet the other rouges." Miles said as he gestured to the few people who were in the room already. While Chance was being introduced to everyone Jahmier was busy looking at everything in the small base. He walked over to a large cork board covered with several photos and other things on the board as well. He could only assume that the photos of people were agents they were eliminating? Or maybe searching for, Jahmier didn't have the slightest idea. "They're mutants." A voice behind him and he nearly jumped. He turned behind him and was met with a man shorter than him and his hair braided back. "I'm Adam, but my friends call me amine." He greeted Jahmier and Jahmier smiled."Oh um I'm Jahmier! So when you say they're mutants what do you plan on doing when you find them?" He asked and Amine point towards the board.
"These are all mutants they had been tracking and planned on killing, so we made it our job to keep them safe. Or at least find them a place to hideout at." He explained and Jahmier nodded his head. "Can I ask how you went rouge or however it is you call it?" Jahmier asked and Adam shoved his hands in his pockets. "My friend was set up at a raid and they tried to kill him even though he's been loyal to that shitty ass agency. So a bunch of went rouge at the same time in like a protesting kind of way. Except it didn't really go well." He said with an awkward laugh and Jahmier's eyes lit up. "I always thought most people who worked for the agency didn't have souls." Jahmier said and Adam let out a laugh. He pat Jahmier on the back and shook his head. "Most of us are actually forced to be apart of it due to parents and other shit. But yeah I'm glad I got out when I did. I have a feeling things are going to be shifting very soon." He said and Jahmier nodded. It seemed more and more people were starting to leave the agency. Chance walked back over and rested his head on Jahmier's shoulder.
"You like it here so far?" He asked and Jahmier nodded. Chance let out a sigh of relief. "Ok good because this is the only place I had left." He said with a dry chuckle and Jahmier chuckled with him. Chance led him to a couch and sat down with the mutant. "You know after all this shit is over I still gotta take you out on a date." He said and Jahmier completely forgot. That's how the two even got into cahoots with each other in the first place. "You sure you're still into me? I'm a lot to handle." Jahmier said quietly and Chance positioned himself so he was resting his head in Jahmier's lap. He looked up at the boy and gave him a dumb look. "Jah I promise you if I didn't like you we wouldn't be here right now. Honestly it's my fault you're even in this mess. If I hadn't just HAD to talk to you." Chance said and Jahmier rolled his eyes before smiling and looking away. The two sat there in silence before Jahmier broke it.
"Do you think things are gonna get better or worse?" He asked and Chance took a moment to think before answering. "I feel like this is the calm before the storm. Like things are going to get a lot worse before they get any better." He said and Jahmier nodded his head. Jahmier knew this was going to turn into some sort of civil rights movement. He just didn't want it to get any more violent than it already it is. He let out a sigh and rested his head on the couch and let his mind wander. Soon enough both him and Chance dozed off.
