There's always that one thing that you just want to disappear that as if it doesn't exist but you can't do anything about it because whether you like it or not, it is inevitable. And that one thing for me is Math.
Like, can't we just pick subjects that we like or would be useful in college. Because what if I just want to wipe Hollywood actors' sweat on set? I won't be needing Pascal's Triangle for that.
I kept complaining inside my head as I continued to do my homework. This was given last week, and it's due tomorrow so I had no choice but to do it. And you know what they say 'You'll know your true capacity at the 11th hour'.
It was around 1 am, and I was on my second cup of coffee. And to my dismay, I only finished half of the homework. This is what you get for procrastinating. There's a reason it was given last week not yesterday.
I was focused on my work when I heard some noise in the kitchen. My heart started to beat rapidly, scared to what caused the noise. It could be a mouse, a cat...but it could also be a Death Eater. Nah, I'm just reading too much Harry Potter.
I went back to my homework and decided to dismiss the noise. But a second later, I heard another noise. Specifically the kitchen door closing. I slowly stood up on my chair and grab the closest thing to me. I wish it would've been a baseball bat or anything that would at least hurt the intruder a little, but sadly I was holding a comb.
I silently walked to my door and pressed my ear against it to hear what was happening. My eyes immediately widened at the sound of footsteps and it is getting louder every second. I locked my door immediately and held my almighty weapon in front of me like it was a lightsaber.
As the footsteps neared my door, I was thinking of ways on how to hurt this person with a comb. And the best I came up with is to hit it in the eyes. A knock on the door disrupted me from my planning. I was imagining what will people think if they heard that the cause of death of this person was a comb. I was so ready of what's to come until I heard a voice.
"Hola! Soy Dora!" It was a male voice in high-pitched tone, that instantly made me clutch my stomach with laughter.
There were tears in my eyes, and I was still laughing as I opened the door. I made a deal with Andres that whenever he sneaks in my room at night and to not make me worry on who is it, we decided to use codes, and to make fun of him I made him use that phrase as the code. He didn't comply at first, but by now he knows I won't let him enter unless he says it in that way.
He rolled his eyes as he entered my room. My laughter toned down to giggles as I closed my door. "Finally, something great happened today." I said as I wiped my tears.
"Why? Had a bad day?" He asked as he sat down on my bed. He was wearing a regular shirt and jeans. Based from his attire, I knew he had trouble sleeping again. I went to my closet and grabbed a pair of shorts that belongs to him in which he uses whenever he sleeps over. I threw it at him, and he caught it with his right hand.
This always happens to him and after some time I got used to it. The only way to get him to sleep was to keep talking to him until somehow he falls asleep. These kinds of nights made our bond stronger and brought us closer. As we keep talking about the most random things, the more we got to know each other even though we thought we knew everything about each other already.
"Yeah. Kinda." I shrugged, remembering I still have a homework to do and a prom date to find. Yes, I still don't have a prom date and I only have a week left. It seemed like everyone has a partner already and I planned to ask Sergio but I know he had this crush that he wants to ask and I don't want to be a reason for him not to.
I dreaded it so much that the person that would've been my partner for literally anything, had to stop going to school this year. It was because of financial problems since their mother was still going in and out of the hospital. I understood, though that's also why I've been tutoring him too, because he wouldn't pay attention if it's Sergio tutoring him, though I know it's because it hurts his pride that his younger brother has to teach him.
