Days before Mia and Thorne are due to tie the knot, all of the wedding preparations are finally complete. The rehearsal ran smoothly, the excitement for the wedding to come looming in the air. Before I know it, it's time for the bachelorette party, which Mia's high school best friend, Emmie, took upon herself to plan. The only request Mia made for the party was for it to not be too extravagant, which Emmie was pretty bummed to hear. I think Mia is pretty burnt out from all of the wedding planning, wanting to just enjoy a relaxing night at home.
However, that's not how us bridesmaids are going to let our girl spend her last night as a bachelorette.
Emmie does hold the party at Mia's apartment. Other than that, she goes all out. Mia's kitchen is soon littered with junk food and a variety of alcoholic beverages. The living room has been decorated with neon lights and different party games. To top all of this off, Emmie decided that the dress code for the night would be "white trash".
Staying true to the dress code, I show up in a pair of ripped jeans paired with a lacy black bustier. Charlie sticks to her usual leather jacket and a pair of shorts, while Violet coordinates her outfit to hers with some leather jeans. Emmie appears in the littlest black dress I've ever seen.
That is, until Mia steps out of her bedroom.
Mia glances down at her scandalous dress in disapproval before turning to Emmie with a frown. "I'm not sure about this outfit," she admits, studying herself in the living room mirror.
"Bitch!" Emmie cries as she rushes over to Mia's side, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "You look hot as hell!"
"She's right," Charlie chimes in. "Work it, girl!"
"If you've got it, flaunt it," Violet agrees with a thoughtful nod.
Mia rolls her eyes, though she does smile at the compliments. "If I'm going to be stuck in this dress for the rest of the night, I'm going to need a drink."
"Coming right up," Emmie says in delight, wandering into the kitchen. "What do you want? I've got everything."
"The strongest you have," Mia responds. "I have a feeling it's going to be a long night."
"Not if you're drunk enough!" Emmie retorts, which has the rest of us bursting into laughter.
Moments later, the sound of the front door opening cuts our laughter short. Emmie loudly scolding someone suddenly fills the silence of the room.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Emmie barks, annoyed. "No boys allowed, remember? This is bachelorette party!"
"Chill out," Thorne's voice counters, which catches Mia's attention. "I forgot my wallet. I'll grab it and be gone, and then you can pretend I was never here."
Thorne soon enters the living room, his gaze immediately falling on Mia. I watch, trying to restrain laughter, as Thorne's expression goes slack, literally stopping in his tracks to stare at Mia.
"Fuck," Thorne says hoarsely, either oblivious to or choosing to ignore the presence of the rest of us. "If I had known you were going to be wearing that I wouldn't have left the house."
Mia rolls her eyes as she approaches Thorne, extending his wallet to him. His gaze doesn't waver from Mia. Charlie, Violet, and I simultaneous share a knowing glance.
"I just had a great idea," Thorne says. "How about we merge the bachelor party with the bachelorette party? Then I can stay here with you."
"Hm." Mia presses a finger to her chin as if she's thinking over Thorne's offer. "I have a better idea. How about you take your wallet and head out with your boys so I can enjoy my last night of freedom before being married to you?"
"Ouch, Sunshine," Thorne mutters, though he's clearly unfazed by Mia's teasing. "I'm going to remember that." He leans down to kiss Mia before backtracking a few steps, though still reluctant to leave.
"Baxter!" Emmie cries from the kitchen. "Get the hell out!"
"I'm going, I'm going." Thorne rolls his eyes. "Love you, Sunshine. See you ladies later." Thorne wanders back into the kitchen, bickering with Emmie for a moment before exiting through the front door and disappearing to wherever it is the boys decided to hold his bachelor's party.
Emmie finally returns to the living room, hands full of glasses that she struggles to keep within her grasp. Grinning, she asks, "Who wants a drink?"
