I walked around my apartment packing everything into my bag that I'd need for today's lectures, including my laptop.

Today was one of the more important lectures that I'd be attending, so I decided that I'd record the whole lecture on my phone, while I write out some of the significant bits of info.

I left the apartment and locked the door, with my bag slung over my shoulder. I made a quick departure from the hallway, hoping that I wouldn't run into the building asshole. Relief washed over me as I made it out of the building's main entrance without an unpleasant encounter.

I waited at the traffic light crossing until it turned green for pedestrians to cross the road. I took my first step onto the tar and was basically given a heart attack when some idiot on a motorcycle almost rode me over. I had managed to drop my phone and smash the screen in the moment of panic that the rider had caused me.

He pulled to a stop beside the crossing as I flipped him off.

"Excuse me asshole, you made me smash my phone." I began my rant. "Are you blind, did you not see the red light?"

The motorcycle guy pulled off his helmet and looked straight at me. First it was the scowl that I immediately recognised, then it was his dark, piercing green eyes.

Carter. Of course.

"Maybe you should look both ways before you attempt to cross the road." Carter growled.

"Are you seriously going to defend you reckless behaviour?"

"Let me see your phone." Ignoring my question he reached his hand out in my direction.

"What?" I asked. I think not.

"I said... let me see your phone." He said slowly, as though I was a child.

"Why?"

"Espen, give me your phone." Carter ordered sternly.

I rolled my eyes, but gave him the phone anyway. It's not like he could possible damage it any further.

I'm probably going to have to find a repair place before Archer tries to call and I don't pick up. He'll have me back home in the blink of an eye.

I watched him as he looked at my phone for a second, examining the screen.

"I can fix this." He said casually.

"How?"

"I know tech. I can fix this." He explained. "Can you come with me now, while I get this done?"

"I have a lecture, an important one."

"Okay, then come by this afternoon to pick it up. It'll be done by then."

"Um, are you going to take my phone?"

"Well it isn't of much use right now is it? And am I supposed to fix it while I'm at the shop and you're at your lecture?"

Despite his rude behaviour he wasn't wrong. It was smashed so badly that I couldn't even see what appeared on the screen, so I couldn't use it anyway. I was also stupid to ask such an obvious question, that one's on me.

"Okay. I'll come by later today."

"Okay. The shop is on the corner of this street." Carter pointed down the street toward a corner that was at leat eight hundred meters away. It seems that I'll have a lot of walking to do today. "Over there."

"Thanks." I think. "I'll see you later?"

"Yup." He said as he tucked my phone into one of his jacket pouches, zipped it up and drove off.
