Cass drove to Drake's house tiredly. Glenna had proven to be her only patient that day as she had a few more mishaps with spells during her session. First she had made Cass's roses come alive. It was interesting...right up until they had pulled out their thorns and started fighting each other with them. Cass ended up with rose parts everywhere. Then there was the mishap with the chocolate truffles.Glenna had mentioned that it was too bad that there wasn't more of them. The next thing Cass knew thousands of them appeared all over her office. It had taken them hours to bag all of them up. Cass had kept a bag of them (hey they were delicious) and sent a very happy Glenna off with the rest of them. All she wanted now was a shower, some food and a nap.

She pulled up to the house and shut off the car. She slowly got out and walked to the door. It opened almost as soon as she knocked...almost as if Drake had been waiting there for her. He was dressed in a suit of all things, the jacket accenting his broad shoulders. He looked amazing.

"Right on time. Come on you don't want dinner to get cold do you?"

"What?"

He tugged her inside and started dragging her towards the door that led to the back porch. Her jaw dropped when she noticed the kitten perched on his shoulder.

"Drake! What's my kitty doing on your shoulder? He shouldn't be up there he could fall off and get hurt."

"Fluffy is fine. He has been up there most of the day. I think he likes heights."

"Fluffy? You named my kitty? I wanted to name him."

"Too bad. You weren't here. He likes the name Fluffy."

"Fine." She huffed. "But where are you taking me?"

"To eat. I did say dinner was ready, did I not?"

He led her out on to the porch and Cass gaped. There was a table set up with about a dozen different dishes that smelled like Chinese food. There was a candle glowing softly and a single red rose in a crystal vase.

"You did all of this for me?"

"Well yes. I even sent everyone away for a few hours. We needed to talk and I figured, why not do it over a meal?"

Denying him seemed childish after the effort she went through. Her stomach growled loudly in agreement and she blushed. She sat down. He passed her some rice and she spooned it on her plate.

"So how was your day?"

She told him about Glenna and the mishaps with his other gifts. He roared with laughter when she told him about the fighting roses. His laughter faded and and he grew serious.

"Look, Cass, about Brandy. You have to believe me when I say I had nothing to do with her being there. We broke up six months ago. Yes, at one time I thought I loved her. We dated for over a year. Then I find out that she had been sleeping around with not one but several members from a neighboring pack. I told her that I wanted nothing more to do with her. We have mostly avoided each other ever since. I didn't even know she was back at the pack house. Last I knew she was visiting another pack. She had been gone for a month. I was hoping that she was going to just stay with them. Please baby, you have to believe me. I miss you so much. I can't sleep. I am distracted all day. I snap at pack members and they haven't done anything wrong. Please, just let me back into your life."

She looked at him and considered his words. What he was saying was the same thing that Nate had told her. She really shouldn't hold the actions of that slut against him. Besides, she was tired of missing him. It was time to let it go. She wanted Drake. She wanted the life that they could have together.
