"Here presenting the award for best country album is Kevin Abstract, the leader of the rap collective Brockhampton and Harley Dixon, the frontman of America's favorite girl group, Fortydust."
The audience clapped enthusiastically as Harley and Kevin began to walk up on stage. "Move over, you're walking too close to me." Kevin whispered aggressively. "I can push you off the stage if you need to get away from me." She spit back without wiping the bright smile off her face. "Say it a little louder so everyone can realize how vindictive you really are." "Oh shut up, you're a little bitch." "Watch the language, we're at an awards ceremony." "No shit, sherlock."
They both turned in unison to where the microphone stood and stared into the bright lights. "We're on camera. Play nice." Kevin whispered as a parting note before the music lowered. "Get over yourself," Harley refrained from rolling her eyes before smiling wider, "Being that we're both a part of groups with a wide variety of talent, we can appreciate the many genres of music." She read off the teleprompter as Kevin continued, "And country music has so many talented artists to offer who are paving the way for future generations."
"That being said, we'd like to present to you the nominees for best country album." Harley began to delicately open up the envelope that was filled with 6 nominees but Kevin snatched it from her. "Faster." "No." She bit out, hiding her words behind a smile before snatching it back from him. "I wanna open it. Stop trying to take over."
"I'm opening it." She laughed like he had said something funny and he smiled fakely. "We can do it together, sweetie." "Condescending asshole." She muttered to herself before they both pulled at each side of the flap. Kevin and Harley each went to take the card out but it got stuck and she huffed impatiently. "Sorry about this." Harley said into the mic and she received awkward laughter from the audience.
Without her knowing, Kevin had already pulled out the card and was reading the nominees. "While I'm Livin' By Tanya Tucker." Everyone clapped and the table with Tanya in it was cheering wildly.
He went out to list out all of the names, not rotating with her, and Harley practically snarled to herself. After he called out the winner, everyone cheered and Harley had had enough.
Kevin looked at her with a smug smile and said, "Oh sorry. Did you wanna go?" So she stomped on his shiny, Gucci loafers. Hard. "Oh, I'm sorry!" She feigned concern before stopping off the stage to let the winner speak. Kevin practically ran off after her to catch up and she rolled her eyes when he finally did.
"You couldn't even be civil for five fucking minutes, you-you absolute fucking...CHILD." She spit out, struggling to find the words. "Oh, I'm the child now? Okay." He huffed and she nodded vigorously. "Yes. Yes, you just had to open up the envelope, right? And then you had to read every single nominee, correct?"
"It's not my fault that I wanted to seize the opportunity when I had a chance. Get a little more competitive." "Kevin," Harley stopped in her tracks, her long legs allowing her to tower over him, "When I'm competitive, you call me a vindictive bitch. But when I try not to be, you tell me to be even more aggressive. What do you want?" "I-I," He stuttered, "I could say the exact same thing about you."
"No you can't," She rolled her eyes, "You're the one who started this when you made the comment on that live." "It was a joke!" He groaned. "Did I laugh?" "No, but it's not my fault you don't have a sense of humor."
"A sense of humor?" Her eyes were practically bugging out of her head, "I'll have you know I am one of the funniest people you will ever meet. Your jokes are fucking lame." "Well that's your opinion." He shrugged.
"You know what I think is-" "Would you both care for a glass of champagne?" A waiter came over and they both whipped around. "No!" "Oh, I'm so sorry."
