Harley's bright red stilettos tapped on the marble floors of the banquet hall in anticipation as she waited for the guests to arrive. Her hair fell in loose waves over her shoulders and long, dangle diamond earrings poked through a sea of blue. Her eyes were heavily lined and smoked out with dark eyeshadow, giving Harley the mysterious appeal that she liked. And of course, her lips were a classic red.
It was bright and bold and just what she needed for the night since for some reason, there were nervous butterflies in her stomach. Well actually, she knew the reason: she was so fucking nervous she might puke because of how many famous people Chris and Kelly had invited. And what if they didn't show?
Rubbing her lips together, she whistled through her teeth before setting off to find one of the girls. Her dress clung to every curve, a tight, satin bodycon dress that was black. It had thin straps and a plunging v-neck. On top, she had on a sparkly jacket that swished when she walked.
"Harley there you are!" Kelly came out of the main party room, catching Harley wandering around in the hallway. "Fuck." Harley mumbled to herself before spinning on her heel.
"Kelly, hey. What's up?" "You are absolutely breathtaking." Kelly placed a warm hand on each of Harley's arms, squeezing gently. "Thank you. So are you." Harley gestured to Kelly's yellow, flowy dress.
"Oh stop it," And then her face lit up, "Anyway I came out here because I have someone I want you to meet. She got here early." "Oh?" Harley's heart beat rapidly in her chest. "I know you were her biggest fan when you were a teeneager." Kelly glowed as she pulled her into the main hall. "Make me more nervous, please." "Stop, you're gonna be fine. Since when were you so nervous about first appearances?" Since Joba, she thought to herself.
"I think it's a little more important now, ya know?" "Just put on that usual swagger of yours and say hi." They walked farther into the hall until Harley's eyes landed on a girl with short blonde hair and messy bangs.
"Holy shit." Harley mumbled under her breath when her eyes met Hayley Williams. "Harley! Hi!" She knows my name. "I did not expect to see you here." Harely laughed calmly, not letting her smile waver even though she wanted to cry happy tears.
"Are you kidding me? Fortydust is my favorite band at the moment." "Did you forget your own band?" Harley laughed in shock and Hayley joined in. "We're pretty damn great but I'm not a narcissist," Hayley giggled, "And Fortydust does it all. There's no comparison." "Stop. I was and-and still am the biggest fan of Paramore. And your new album is so different than anything you've ever done before."
"I can picture us working together, honestly." Hayley winked and Harley was about to pass out right there. "Don't say that, I'll be messaging you every day." "We already both follow each other on Instagram. Just dm me and we can set something up." "I'd love to."
"So would I," Then she smiled, "Anyway I'll let you get back to hosting everything. I'm gonna sit down and we can talk more later." "Perfect. I hope you have fun." "Depends where you guys sat me." Hayley giggled before walking off to her assigned table.
"God I love her and I had the biggest crush on her when I was younger." "She responded immediately to the invite so I'm sure she's excited to be here too."
"I hope so," Harley swallowed, "Do you need me to do anything else?" "Uh," Kelly looked around, "Just get the rest of the girls and then meet me back over here. Guests are gonna be coming through in a few minutes." "We'll be here." And then Harley took off, waving to Hayley as she passed her table.
The rest of the girls were in the hall, all talking. "What are you guys doing out here?" "I'm gonna throw up." Millie said nervously, playing with her hands. Her white dress was short and tight and silver hoops the size of a baseball were dangling from her ears. Her hair was lengthened with extensions and bubblegum pink heels were on her feet.
"I'm nervous too but we'll get through this together." She squeezed Millie's hand. "You? Nervous?" Genesis smiled wickedly and Harley rolled her eyes. "Yes, I'm nervous. Too bad you aren't." "Apparently I don't feel anything. That's what Kenny said at least." "It's true," Kenny shrugged, "And I don't get nervous for much either."
"Well let me just say, you all look absolutely beautiful. There's nothing to be nervous about." Trinity smiled at them and Harley grinned softly at her. Trinity was wearing a purple, sparkly bodycon dress with a strapless bodice. Her hair naturally fanned out in tight, jet black curls and her lips were colored purple to match her dress.
"Thanks, Trin. You look gorgeous too," And then she cleared her throat, "Now let's get out there and do what we gotta do. There's a bunch of famous people waiting for us." "Who are waiting for us." Genesis repeated, emphasizing Harley's words. But then she looked over at Millie and patted her shoulder gently, trying to get her to calm down.
"You can wait out here for a little bit if you need to." Harley said softly to her but Millie shook her head. "I need to do this. I have you guys anyway." "Atta girl." Kenny winked before they headed inside the main hall, Harley leading them to the entrance.
The main hail had gotten busier and each member of Fortydust waved to the celebrities that had already gotten there. Flo Milli was talking with Hayley Williams and Harley waved happily at the two of them. She couldn't believe how successful Tamia had become at such a young age but she deserved every bit of it.
Kenny grinned when she was Frank Ocean. "Oh my god this is amazing. Frank never comes to shit like this." "Well he's here now." Kenny smiled, adjusting her navy pantsuit that hung off the shoulders. They passed Lil Nas X who waved.
"You look excited to be here." "I came for the food. Not you guys." "Oh shut up." Genesis rolled her eyes. They'd hung out with him before and had become close friends over the past year. "We gotta go greet people but we'll see you in a bit." Harley waved and he saluted them goofily.
At the front entrance was Childish Gambino who smiled. "You still haven't contacted me about our song." "I'm sorry it's been crazy lately!" Harley laughed and Genesis smiled at him brightly. "Well it's a real blow to my ego that you made an entire ep with Brockhampton before me." He joked and they all laughed.
"Believe me, I wish it was with you. Kevin's like the Dollar Store version." Harley smiled goofily, shrugging at her own playfulness. "I already knew that." "We promise we'll actually make an effort to plan something. I swear." Kenny said immediately and he grinned. "You better."
Rico Nasty, who was sporting a mohawk and leather dress, greeted them all happily. "Congratu-fucking-lations, guys," She winked, "I've been listening to I Need A Heart Autopsy for a few weeks straight now. It's amazing." "If we made a remix would you come on?" "Oh hell yeah. You don't have to ask me twice."
Tyler the Creator, Grimes, and Rina Sawayama all walked in with congratulations.
"I love your dress." Doja Cat gasped, pointing to Genesis. It was tight, long and seethrough in some areas with a rainbow pattern covering her chest and hips. "You look just as sexy." "Thanks babe." Doja winked, twirling around.
Eventually husband and wife, Andy Black from Black Veil Brides, and rock singer Juliet Simms, walked into the hall. Juliet had a long black dress on with a large v in the back and gold snake patterns along the sleeves and chest.
Andy was wearing a black tux and red dress shoes, both displaying their many tattoos. "Hi!" Millie waved shyly at them and Andy smiled. "I thought we were the only ones invited, what happened?"
They had met the Blacks a few months ago after their record label offered them a deal because of Fortydust's punk style. Plus, Harley was a big fan of Black Veil Brides when she was in high school. Juliet had been wanting to get in on a song with Fortydust but they were both so busy.
"Very funny, Andy." Juliet rolled her eyes but then grinned at his shy smile, her eyes glowing with love. Harley wondered if that was what she looked like with Joba.
"You guys look amazing." "Oh come on, so do you five. Hottest group around right now." "Hey!" Andy said and Harley tsked at him. "BVB can't compete with us." "Fine maybe you're right." He grinned, nose ring sparkling.
Clairo, Dominic Fike, and Ryan Beatty all came together and they talked for a little bit. Fortydust never really spoke to them much since they were so close to Brockhampton but now they all seemed to be getting along seamlessly. So many more people came and Harley felt a lot more comfortable then before. "You think we can sit down now?"
And they were about to until she heard his voice.
