in this world, soulmates exist. soulmates are those that share the same soul as you. they could be anyone, a billionaire, a criminal, a beggar, or just a person you passed by yesterday on the streets on your way to a café.
why do people have soulmates? a popular saying is that a long time ago, humans have four arms and four legs. it went on like that for a while until zeus thought that humans are way too powerful with four arms and four legs. so he split them in half, resulting in how we are now: two arms, two legs. zeus cursed humankind to be looking for their soulmates, the one that was split away from you a long time ago, for the rest of their lives. yes, lives, not life. humankind is cursed to find their soulmates in every single one of their lifetimes. some may find theirs immediately in one, but may never find their soulmates in another. it's cruel, but that's the consequence of us being too powerful to the gods and goddesses.
another curse zeus has on humankind is that while you may have found your soulmate in your lifetime now, you'll forget your soulmate's name and face in your next. this way, zeus ensures that humankind will find their soulmates in every lifetime, which is a torture to humankind but entertainment to the gods.

i'm dying, i could tell. wooyoung held my hands in his, which made my heart feel warm. at least i know he's with me, even when i'm dying.
"you're not going to die, sannie, you're not dying on me." my lover said, tears slipping down from his eyes and onto his beautiful face. i smiled weakly, raising my left hand to wipe it away. when i feel my hand go weak, wooyoung held onto it. he leaned into it and smiled at me.
wooyoung is so beautiful. he's the prettiest human i've ever seen in my life. i remember when i first met him, i was so surprised since he said the exact words on my wrist. he was the person i'd least expect it from. he was behind a counter at a cafe, making my drink and calling my name wrong. that's why my wrist had "choi sam" on it. we laughed so much about it, it just became a story we told our children.
yes, we have children. a girl and a boy. two beautiful children who, unfortunately, lost their parents to a car crash. hanjung and yeril are our everything. however, the siblings were outside of the room, sleeping soundly when both of their dads are inside, hoping for a miracle to happen.
"wooyoung," i drew in a breath with much difficulty, "i love you." i smiled at him as i closed my eyes, the last thing i see being wooyoung's smile and a silent tear dropping. i'll see you again, my love. we'll meet again in our next life.
