wooyoung saw youngjee's text when he got home, seeing that youngjee was at his home, head in his palms and his mother looking at him disapprovingly. wooyoung frowned at the sight. his mom loved youngjee, what's going on?

"mom, jee, what's wrong?" wooyoung asked as he put his keys on the countertop beside the door. his mom looked at wooyoung with tears in her eyes. wooyoung's frown deepened as he rushed to her side, asking her why she's crying.

"ask him why, woo." chaehee said between her sobs. wooyoung stroked his mother's back soothingly as he looked at youngjee, urging him to tell him what's going on.

"i, uh," youngjee looked up from his palms and he looked disastrous. even more disastrous than wooyoung's mom. wooyoung frowned. "i cheated."

wooyoung's eyes widened. the hand on his mother's back stooped massaging her and he just stood there, frozen. youngjee... cheated? it's so not youngjee. so there must be something else. something else that both his mother and youngjee aren't telling him. and there's only one thing that they wouldn't talk about.

"you met your soulmate, didn't you?" wooyoung asked, his voice so soft it's only audible because of the uncomfortable silence in the small apartment. youngjee shifted his position from his stool and his mom sighed, putting her head into one of her palms and the other on the counter.

wooyoung knew he said it. youngjee met his soulmate. and for some unknown reasons, wooyoung doesn't feel sad or anything. he feels happy, he feels glad that youngjee met his special someone.

"that's great! youngjee, mom, why are you two upset about it?" wooyoung questioned. what he didn't know was that a silent tear dropped onto the countertop, making a drop sound. wooyoung's mom turned to her son and hugged him, which wooyoung refused. he smiled as the tears continued falling.

"wooyoung—"

"no, i'm serious! why are you two upset about it? jee, you've met your soulmate. they understand you more than i do. it's a good thing. why are you so sad?" wooyoung asked, trying to keep his smile but he couldn't. he knows he isn't sad or anything, but why is he crying? for fuck's sake, he met his own soulmate as well! so why is he upset over youngjee meeting his soulmate.

"because i don't love her, wooyoung, i love you!" youngjee yelled. after that, he dropped his head down in exhaustion, "i'm so in love with you, wooyoung, i can't love someone else other than you."

wooyoung stared at youngjee blankly. youngjee's soulmate is a her. from what wooyoung knows about youngjee, he knows that youngjee is 100% gay. but perhaps, deep inside, youngjee liked girls too. wooyoung sighed, looking up at youngjee in the eyes.

"is it, uh, a bad time to tell you i've met my soulmate as well?" wooyoung muttered. youngjee's head shot up and wooyoung's mom just sighed out of relief, or whatever she's feeling now. her son found his soulmate, of course, she's happy, but she saw how these two boys treat each other. it just hurts to know that they aren't each other's soulmate.

"who is yours?" youngjee asked, even though it tears his heart apart to, once again, know that wooyoung's soulmate isn't him. wooyoung smiled softly, "remember the choi san i told you about? that dumb ass is my soulmate."

youngjee chuckled softly as he recalled wooyoung telling him about a certain boy in seoul that wooyoung fell in love with. youngjee never felt jealous over wooyoung's deep love for san, he just listens to it like it's another story of wooyoung's life in seoul.

"you remember haerin from the 7-11 we passed by yesterday? i went to pick up some groceries this morning and we exchanged our words, and surprisingly she really said 'i hate you' to me!" youngjee laughed, making wooyoung giggle as well, "well, since we both found our soulmates, it is time, isn't it?"

youngjee smiled at wooyoung, and the latter smiled back. they both knew they hid their sadness behind the smiles, but there's no preventing it. they're meant to be with their soulmates, not each other. of course, there are cases of people not getting together or married with their soulmates, but 9 out of 10 do.

and both wooyoung and youngjee knew they are one of those 9 people that would do so. they have always been fascinated with the idea of soulmates since they've met. they told each other that if they never find their soulmates, then they'll grow old together, with each other. but since they found both their soulmates, well, the promise won't be fulfilled.

wooyoung nodded, kissing youngjee's cheek once last time before pulling the taller up from the stool he was sitting on. youngjee smiled at wooyoung and caressed his cheeks, admiring wooyoung's angel-like features before he stepped out of the apartment. "well, goodbye, wooyoung. youngbok's always next door so go find him if you want to find me, alright?"

wooyoung nodded, his smile not flattering and his tears refusing to stop flowing. youngjee's smile tightened as he wiped off wooyoung's tears so it doesn't ruin the carpet from the hallway. "you'll be alright, woo. i love you." youngjee kissed wooyoung's lips softly and pulled away a second later. wooyoung chuckled at youngjee's kiss and released his hand, waving at youngjee as the elevator door closed.

"i love you too," wooyoung muttered, silent tears after another falling gradually to the carpet as he knelt down on the floor, hands covering his face as he sobbed until he decided to start packing back in his apartment.
