Chapter Thirteen: Wrong
"Kami," Azusa said quietly, laying her hand atop Kami's shoulder.
Tears sprang to Kami's eyes. She let out a half choked laugh as she brought a hand up to wipe her right one. Though, a tear escaped her left eye, leaving a trail in it's wake. It was as if the small group had completely forgotten about the danger laid in front of them.
"Kami," Azusa tried once again.
"No," Kami replied.
"Kam-"
"No! It's okay, really," Kami laughed, looking over to Azusa, who looked at Kami with concern.
A smile graced Kami's lips as she looked at the dark-haired girl.
"Azusa, it's just that I, I was so sure," Kami informed the other girl.
"If you felt that he was your partner, then he must have been-"
"He is," Sid said, finally making an appearance.
The girl that had found the four of them by his side. She said her name was Mira Nygus. Her cheeks were lightly blushed, her eyes were downcast. Obviously something had happened between the two of them, but Kami didn't feel like trying to figure out what. She felt too disheartened.
"What do you mean, Sid?" she questioned, returning her eyes to the guy.
"Don't you remember what our professor said? A weapon can have two meisters."
"That's right," Azusa confirmed.
"Yes, but... one has a stronger bond than the other," Kami said, adding to the discussion.
"Maybe your bond with Spirit is the stronger one," JB offered.
"No, if it was, then Spirit would have ditched the boy a long time ago. I don't want your pity," Kami shouted.
"I wasn't-"
"Yes you were! I'm not a fool!" Kami went on, cutting JB off.
"Kami, JB wasn't-"
"Stop it, Sid, don't defend him," Kami snapped as Sid tried speaking.
At this point Azusa brought her hand up and struck Kami's cheek.
"Stop this, Kami!"
"A-Azusa..."
The small circle of people looked at Azusa with astonished eyes. Her face was bathed in anger, her eyebrows were scrunched up.
"Azusa," kami tried again, bringing her hand up to cup her stinging cheek.
"Get yourself together," Azusa demanded,"the enemy is still present."
Kami took in a deep breath as she realized how true Azusa's words were. Her eyes scanned the area, finding the crounching beast in front of the Silver-haired boy. Kami felt that the situation was very grave, but she couldn't do a thing without a weapon. Sid couldn't help them without a weapon and Azusa couldn't help without a proper meister. Kami was at a loss of what to do. To be completely honest, she was terrified, terrified of what would happen to them.
"We- theirs nothing we can do," she declared in defeat.
"Don't say that," the girl, Mira, pleaded.
The eyes of the DWMA students fell to her. Her eyes were feirce, determined, as if she would single-handedly defeat the creature.
"There must be something, anything! Stein is a good person, we have to help him!" She shouted, grabbing Sid's arm.
The two met each other's gaze and Mira quickly averted hers, though she didn't let go of his arm.
"The sun will be rising," Sid said simply.
"And?" Mira asked.
"And... the immortal won't like the sunlight, it'll run to something shadowed in darkness," Sid explained.
"Are you certain?" Azusa questioned.
"I am," Sid confirmed.
"And you know this how?" JB asked.
"I...I like to read, okay?" Sid admitted, a blush rising to his cheeks.
"So...Stein will be okay?" Mira asked, hopefully.
"And Spirit?" Kami added.
"Yes," Sid affirmed, avoiding Mira's hopeful gaze.
