A/N: I apologize for taking so long to update. I had semester exams before Christmas break, so I haven't had the time. I was so worried about them haha. However, I did well. .^-^. I don't know if I really like this chapter. It's kind of rushed. I hope you'll like it a bit though. Please comment and vote! Tell me what you think. (:

Chapter Ten: Spirit?
There Spirit sat, wrapped in Kami's warm embrace. His face was pressed into the crick of her neck, her palms were pressed flat against my back. She had come as soon as he'd phoned her, even flagging down a taxi to get here quicker. He'd told her about his dream, about his past, about what had happened that awful day. He had been a sobbing, choking mess. Though, his sobs had subsided nearly an hour ago.
Even so, he still held a loose grip on Kami's body.
"Spirit?" Kami timidly asked a while later.
It was silent for a beat then a strained, "yes" came. Kami could feel the vibrations of the sound against her skin as he spoke.
"You...should stay with us," she said.
Spirit really didn't know how he felt about that. It seemed like a nice idea. He wouldn't have to be alone anymore. He never was very good at being alone. He'd always had his mother, his sister and his father. And after that, he had always had the orphans in the orphanage he was sent to. He wanted that family environment.
"No," he replied.
"Why?" Kami questioned, her voice laced with disappointment.
"Sid doesn't like me and Azusa, well, I don't even know how Azusa feels," he replied.
Kami sighed, pulling away from him. She took his face in her hands and brought his head up until he was facing her. His eyes were red-ringed and his nose nearly matched his hair.
"Sid just doesn't like what he doesn't know. And Azusa, well, she acts that way towards everybody. Theirs no need for you to worry about either one. And JB likes you!" she exclaimed.
Spirit just looked at her.
"And, and so do I. Come stay with us! We've got plenty of room."
"Fine," Spirit agreed.
He still wasn't too sure about it. He told Kami that he would stay at the warehouse overnight and then start moving his things in the next day. He grabbed a bag of clothes, along with his toothe brush and they left his apartment. They sauntered slowly through the littered streets. Kami was awfully cheerful the whole way. A bright smile illuminated her cherry kissed face. Her laughter filled the void of the long alley that stretched out before them.
She talked on and on about various things.
She told Spirit about how her and the other band mates went to school with one another. A large portion of that was filled with how much she adored their schoolmaster. Shed told him about how funny and caring he was. She went on to explain that he would love Spirit and how she hoped he'd get to meet him one day. Though, she also explained in detail how eccentric her beloved schoolmaster was.
"But yeah, you would love him!" she finished loudly.
Spirit just look at her, an amused look gracing his face. He didn't say anything to her, he didn't even open his mouth, he just looked at her. Kami stared back at him. She wasn't sure what that feeling pinching in her chest was. She didn't know if it was the tiniest uplift at the corner of Spirit's lips, or if it was the way his eyes seemed to illuminate the darkness, but she was entranced. It was only a few moments that they stood that way, just staring at each other. Spirit didn't feel the embarrassment that he felt on the day he went out with Azusa and Kami. He felt perfectly calm, perfectly in tune with his emotions, which never happened. No, instead, it was Kami.
Kami was the one who's face lit up. She was the one who quickly turned away from him. She was the one who's mouth fell open as she brought her hand to it. The realization had hit her subtly, yet, quite shockingly. It was Spirit. Spirit had been the one she was searching for. It had to be him. He was her partner. She turned her head to peek at him. He was still looking at her, his head tilted just the slightest to the right. Kami just motioned for him to follow her and so he did. This time though, they walked in silence, their footsteps echoing in tune with each other. Kami's arms were to her sides, swinging the slightest bit as she walked. Spirit was at her side, hands in pockets, head straight forward.
He didn't know why Kami was suddenly acting so strange, or why she took on this quiet persona all of a sudden. He didn't mind it though. It wasn't awkward and it wasn't filled with tension, it was comfortable. It seemed utterly ridiculous to him that only a few hours ago he was breaking down. He could barely even believe that his breakdown had even happened. He would have doubted it if Kami's touch wasn't burning through his body.
They remained the way they were until reaching the warehouse. By this time, Spirit's lids were half closed. He was worn out with the fatigue his nightmare had brought. Kami explained his situation and surprisingly to him, nobody objected his staying. Though, Kami had left everything about the nightmare and his past out of her explanation. Those things were far personal to share with others, especially if it wasn't Spirit who was telling them. Spirit lay on the couch, bundled up in a patchwork quilt.
He was nearly asleep as he listened to the others conversing in the other room. They were just barely audible and Spirit was having trouble making out individual words, but he heard Kami's words before he drifted into unconsciousness.
"He's the one," she breathed.
