I stuck in the bobby pin and gave it a little twist, hoping that those stupid lock-picking videos I'd watched were worth it. Fortunately, the lock clicked and I was able to easily open my door. Inside, I found Ryan holding the strap of my black bra with one finger. Humiliation swept through me and I ran towards him, snatching the garment from his hands and stuffed it back in my closet. "What the hell?" I spat. Grabbing the back of his shirt, I hauled him to the door, opened it and tossed him out, completely disregarding the fact that he was suppose to be a guest. Though, I supposed my actions were appropriate. Guests do not go through the hostess's undergarments!

"When do I get to see you in it?" He waggled his brows, fixing his collar before leaning against the plaster, seeming completely unfazed by what had happen.

I exhaled slowly, eager to release all the anger and embarrassment after the episode. "Well, I was going to put it on after tonight but after what you just pulled, I don't think so." I smirked, feeling my usual fast-witted attitude returning. Nothing like a good dose of self-confidence and cockiness to bring you back around.

"Bummer." He pursed his lips, giving me a head-to-toe. I wasn't usually self-conscious but the way he was looking at me made me regret not putting more effort in what I choose to wear.

"For you." I pointed out, brushing pass him, making sure to lock my doors so there won't be another mishap, and walked down the stairs. I could feel him staring at my ass and I turned around, annoyed. "Next time you're drooling at my ass, try to make it less subtle." I barked, swiftly descending the rest of the steps.

"Were you expecting a next time?" I heard him asked.

"From you, kinda hard not to." I retorted. "But, if I do feel you staring at my butt at all, I'll make sure you won't have any kids, capiche?"

"Harsh." He muttered. "Do you act like this with all your other guy friends?"

"Nope. It seems I only reserve this attitude around you." I answered.

He was silent and I looked back, scowling when I caught a grin beginning to form. "I feel so special."

"That's one way of putting it." I grumbled, rounding the corner to the kitchen. The table was set and the food was ready. I cross over to the cupboard and took out six glasses, filling them with ice cubes and sodas. Then, I placed them in front of each plate; I grabbed the lighter and flicked on, a spark of fire caught the candles and the room was illuminated with a soft glow.

Outside, the sun had just finished making its descend and the sky was a like a large canvas with only splashes of purple, black and navy blue. Surprisingly, fireflies darted back and forth outside, and the sight surprised me. I've never seen fireflies in California. And the bright glow from each of them filled the backyard with a warm feeling.

"Jamie, call Andy down. Dinner's ready." My mom said.

I nodded imperceptibly and shuffled to the bottom of the staircase. "Andy!" I waited until I heard something remotely close to a response.

"Hm?" I heard. It was muffled. What was he doing up there?"

"Dinner's ready." I yelled then head back to the table. A few seconds later, my brother appeared, fixing his hair. I rolled my eyes. He's so vain.

We all took our seats. My mom sat the head of the table with Cassandra on one side and Justin on the other. Andy sat next to Mr. Tyler and I sat next to Ryan who sat next to his mom. I scowled to myself. I dislike this seating arrangement.

My mom, with Cassandra's help, placed all the foods expeditiously. We then clasped hands and said the blessings before the food dispersed. The Tylers' made small talks with my mom while the me, Andy, and Ryan ate silently. There wasn't any tension but the atmosphere was uncomfortable so we didn't feel the need to fill it with useless chatters.
