Brynn and I are on our way to Sway house when I get a call from Aubrey.

"Hey stupido," she speaks and I roll my eyes as Brynn grins, holding my phone on speaker for me.

"What do you need?" I huff.

"I have bad news. M-mom called," she whispers and Brynn looks at me, confused.

"What did she say, Aubrey," I grit out, my hold on the steering wheel tightened.

"We need to go for dinner. Pushing it will only delay it. She won't stop asking. She had called me many times," she says.

What the fuck! She called Aubrey! "I'm not going there Aubrey, and neither are you," I state, firmly.

"She won't stop! So I am going. She thinks she changed and I'm not believing it, but I'm going. You don't have to come if you don't want to," she says and I grunt.

Yeah, like I'm letting her go in that crazy woman's house all alone. "No, I'm coming."

"Ok, this Saturday," she says.

"Yeah, alright. I'll pick you up at 6, bye." I say and she hung up.

After a couple minutes of silence, Brynn speaks up. "Are you okay?" She asks.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I grit out and realize I'm taking my anger from a psycho out on Brynn. "I'm sorry, I just can't stand talking about her," I say and she puts her hand on mine.

Her soft touch immediately calmed me down. And I felt better about this bullshit situation immediately. Although I'd never want to bring Brynn in to all of this, she would be the only one to calm me down— ever. No matter what the problem was.

With that thought it mind, I utter the stupid request to Brynn. "Do you think you can come with me?" I hesitate at first, but then complete it.

Her eyes go wide in shock then she looks at me, confused. "You want me to come with you?" She confirms and I nod.

"Why?" She asks. Fuck, was I asking too much? Probably shouldn't have asked.

"Why not? If you don't want to, I'm not forcing." I reply.

"It's not that. It's just, you don't really want to talk about it, I don't know why you'd like me there," she whispers and I grab her hand in mine, collectively intertwining our fingers together.

"I may not want to talk about it, but I really need you there. When she gets on my nerves, you're the only person that could calm me down before I do something bat-shit crazy."

She doesn't reply at first, but then smiles to me. "I'd love to come." She whispers and I pull her in for a small kiss.

"Thank you so much."

...

"So, no talking, no questions, no smiling?" Brynn teases and I crack a smile.

"No, you can talk, to me and Aubrey, I just don't want her to ruin anything, which she fucking will." I groan pulling her to me.

"Alright, noted. Anything else?" She asks.

"You have to hold my hand, for safety precautions, obviously." I grin.

"Obviously," she repeats and finally comes to me, since I've been reaching for her for five minutes.

I pull her towards me and place her arms on my shoulders. "If she offends you, we'll leave right away. I will fucking make sure of it. But please don't... don't," I rant off to say. What do I even say? Don't leave me for my mother's mistakes?
