"That's all you two did?" Lila asks sipping her coffee with intense eyes.

"Yeah, basically, I told you, there is nothing between us." I tell her to hopefully shut down some of the thoughts going through her head.

"I don't buy it. I know you wouldn't lie to me, and I believe that's all you two did, but there is something there. Dude has a crush on you, don't at me,"

"Firstly I can't 'at' you—"

"Well you get the point,"

"And secondly, it's Blake Gray we are talking about! Why would someone like him, who can have every gorgeous girl on campus, want someone like me? He's... Blake Gray," I repeat.

"And you're you. You're absolutely amazing. And just because he is popular, does not give you the right to tell yourself you're less important than him." Lila scolds.

"Lila, I love you. But who— other than you, would want me? Not in a fishing for compliments way, more like, let's just be honest here. My own parents don't want me—" I cut myself off at what I just said.

"Bree," she whispers.

"Well that took a turn," I fake laugh. "Let's just call it a night okay?"

"But Bree—"

"Seriously Lila, I'm totally fine, let's talk tomorrow?" I ask and she hesitantly nods.

She walks over and hugs me and I tightly hug her back. "I love you Brynn, and anyone who doesn't understand what an amazing person you are— well they can fucking speak to me," she says firmly and I nod, smiling.

"I'll make sure to send them your way, goodnight Lila."

"No wait! Don't go in there—" I here her say but it's too late because when I step into the room I see a naked guy in her bed, thankfully covered by a blanket.

"Really Lila?" I ask and she nods, ashamed.

Lila was never one to have one night stands, nothing about Lila would make you think she is the one to do those.

But when a month ago, her boyfriend from high school; Sean, cheated on her, she lost all hope in love.

Her and Sean dated from middle school all the way to almost two years into college. They had plans together, marriage, kids.

Safe to say, Lila was absolutely head over heels in love with him. But when she caught him cheating on her with some random girl, my best friend broke.

And for once I got Lila's guts and stood up for my best friend. I punched that asshole square in the jaw. And I would love to do it again.

Ever since then, I saw the side she tried to hide; her broken side. Lila wanted to act like she didn't care, so went out and got a new guy every weekend.

Now my best friend has given up in love and believes it's all fake. All those romance books she used to read, recommend to me, they were all thrown into a box to donate, but I know they haven't been given yet.

Because I know my best friend will understand that she will find her love, but not just as yet.

I tried a couple times to talk to her, but I saw the hurt, the weakness in her eyes that Lila never showed, and I didn't want to push her. When she is ready, I'll be the one with a spoon and pint of Ben and Jerry's. Till then, I'll wait.

Now back to this guy who is naked. "I'm sorry Brynn, just give me a second," she says before rushing into the room and coming out with the guy beside her— fully clothed.
