hazamada watched as you disappeared into the back of the cafe, only to come back out with a pocket full of suckers with a variety of tastes, a new one already in your mouth. looking back down at his notebook of doodles, he eyed the cherry sucker for a moment before popping it into his mouth, a smile ghosting his lips.

ten minutes passed and hazamada hadn't yet left the cafe, his drink almost completely gone. however, when the time came for highschool to start, he left, most likely to his classes. forgetting him, you continued to take order after order, the morning turning into the afternoon, the time when lots of highschoolers would leave school to get lunch at a corner store, or more conveniently, your cafe. after completing the previous order, the next person in line came up to order, who ended up being the middle schooler kid you saw on your supposed-to-be first day.

his once pulled back, slick grey hair was now flat across the top, seemingly cut off in a rush. you met eyes, causing him to gasp slightly when he saw you. "hey! you were that girl by the fountains! wasnt your name... roma?"

"yes, my name is (y/n) roma." you corrected, tapping the pin on your chest. "now, what can i get ya, kid?"

"im a highschooler." he deadpanned, making you blush from embarrassment.

"o-oh! im so sorry, i didnt mean to assume!" you stammered, the new strawberry lollipop in your mouth almost falling out from you repeatedly bowing.

he shook his head, putting up a hand to cease your apologies. "its fine, happens all the time. can i get a chocolate muffin with a can of arizona tea?"

"certainly!" you replied, grabbing his requested foods. "anything else, mister...?"

"koichi, the name's koichi."

"ok, koichi, can i get you anything else?" you hummed, correcting yourself.

"no thank you, i believe im fine with what i have." he answered, handing you the required amount of money. you smiled as he walked out of the cafe, meeting up with two guys that had waited outside for him, one of them happening to be that josuke kid. while you put away the cash given to you, you observed the group koichi talked to, raising an eyebrow when one with scars on his face gestured to you, smiling stupidly.

brushing it aside, you turned around and walked into the backroom, grabbing some more java chips to refill the empty container up front. upon returning, you found that melody had taken your place, taking the order of the josuke and the other guy, who wore the word 'billion' in bold letters on his sleeve.

finding you had come out of the backroom, the mystery guy nudged josuke in the side, nodding his head in your direction with a dumb smile. ignoring them, you proceeded to refill the container for the chocolate chips, only to begin eavesdropping on the conversation melody was having with them. "yes, ill have (y/n) get your order done right away. is there anything else you would like?"

"uh, yeah, can you tell me the name of that cutie right there?" the guy with scars on his face asked, gesturing to you.

melody blinked, an emotionless expression hardening her features. "that is (y/n)."

"sweet! we got a hot barista to make our drinks!" he cheered, nudging josuke again.

"alright, can i get your names?" melody asked, holding a sharpie over a cup.

"you can just use josuke for both." the man in question answered, glancing over at you with curious eyes. he hadnt seen you since the first day, prompting him to occasionally wonder where you went, which happened to be here.

josuke and okuyasu, eager to receive their drinks, shuffled over to the end of the counter, watching you work your magic when the bell to the door chimed, alerting everyone a new person had walked in.
