"Hey Del, thanks again for helping me with this."

I watched as Blyke easily lifted the desk into the previously vacant bedroom, setting it on the side of the wall as I began putting the fitted sheet onto the mattress.

"Sure, no problem," I said before standing up to stretch shortly before resuming the task at hand.

He stared at me thoughtfully as I worked, letting his eyes roam around my face before he spoke.

"So, what's really the deal between you and John?" He questioned before setting his head onto the base of his hand.

I froze for a split second as I digested my his question, straightening my oversized flannel before busying myself again.

"Why would you assume something's wrong with us?" I challenged, attempting to masquerade the discomfort in my voice.

"Because you were acting strange this morning when I started talking about John. If something was bothering you, you'd hide it until you were alone, right? You don't just allow people to see how sad you are."

I smoothed the comforter over the bed before raising a brow at him. Although Blyke couldn't really make the most cohesive connections sometimes, when he was able to, he was usually dead on point.

"What?"

"Nothing," I said as I shook away my disappointment. "I'm not.....sad."

I felt a pang stab my chest. I'm lying to myself and I know it. Blyke knows it as well.

"I know you were giving me obscure answers because Isen was there. We're friends, Del. Even if I don't necessarily agree with you sometimes, I'll try my best to support you," he reminded.

He was right. Remi was always busy with pursuing her own goals, and Isen wasn't exactly good at giving advice, so it was usually Blyke who I relied on when I was stuck in a rut.

"So, what did John do?" Blyke pressed as I finished setting up the pillows.

I sighed softly before settling against the desk next to him.

"John's emotions have been unstable lately, and.....I know he's hiding something from me." I said. "When I met his Dad, he didn't even know who I was. I had to find out from his dad that John never uttered one word about me. And when I tried to confront him about his shady nature, he just.....blew up on me." I felt tears well in my eyes.

Blyke narrowed his eyes.

"What do you mean 'blew up'?"

"Last Friday.....we got into a heated argument, so I thought it'd be best if I just left before things could get worse. When I tried leaving, he didn't let me go."

The sudden flashback of John pushing me against the wall instilled a heavy fear in my chest again. Blyke stood up with a worried expression.

"Del, what do you mean, 'didn't let you go?' What did he—?"

Before he could finish his sentence, the loud resonance of the doorbell cut him off shortly.

"He's here?" Blyke muttered as I followed him into the living room.

Before he could greet his new roommate, Keene entered, carrying a suitcase without paying much attention to Blyke.
