My eyes widened at Isen's statement as I suddenly felt goosebumps raise on the back of my neck, feeling the presence of several individuals pervading my radius.
There has to be at least four or five of them.....I thought as I slapped the back of my neck, trying to shake off the prickly feeling.
"Remi," I called with an urgent voice, sticking my head through the doorway.
"Huh?"
"We gotta go. There's a group of people closing in on us," I said before abruptly heading for the door.
"What?" The blue haired woman and Remi cried in unison.
"Don't worry," she said as she placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We'll take care of them."
We stepped outside, surrounded by a group of fearful adults crowding the entrance. Upon our arrival, they became rigid at our presence, studying us with wary eyes.
"Who the hell are you?" A man demanded. "Why are you guys dressed like that?"
"I'm X-Rei. I'm a Superhero," Remi stated with a diplomatic tone, approaching them with a cautious gait.
"Huh, they're just kids," A purple haired woman said as she relaxed her stance.
"Superhero?" Another man spat disdainfully. "We don't want garbage like that around here."
I turned my head to study them. Despite their attempts to remain vigilant and hostile, their eyes peered at us with familiar fearful, wary expressions. It only reinforced the blue-haired woman's statement about the authorities failing to help out citizens of Branish. Without the authorities' help, now they didn't even trust outsiders with good intentions.
"Remi," I warned, grabbing her shoulder. "Just leave them be. We can get information through other means."
Besides, I didn't really want to beat up a group of low tiers.
"What?" She said, shaking my hand off. "But we barely have a solid lead! We're looking for a man named Waldo. Have you seen him?" She asked.
The low tiers' stances immediately squared at the mention if Waldo's name.
"No," the man lied as his eyes began to glow. "Now get out of our town-!"
Without notice, the man immediately lunged in Remi's direction. She hastily leaped backwards, sliding away from him as she regained her balance.
"Hey, relax!" Remi pleaded. "I don't want to fight you! I just want to-"
She hastily dodged the next attack, pressing her back against the wall.
My eyes widened as a blue phantom outline of a fist came barreling towards me. I lunged to the side in a red streak, narrowing my eyes at the attacker.
If I let their attacks recoil against my defense, the magnitude of the power inflicted back on them will probably put them in the hospital, I thought. I don't want to hurt them. I just have to subdue them so we get answers.
"You can't evade forever, kid," the man said as he charged towards me.
I stepped to the side and placed a my glowing hand against his chest, lifting him in the air momentarily before slamming him into the ground. The asphalt cracked upon impact, his eyes widening in astonishment and pain as I directed my eyes to the woman.
