____________________________After the basketball session, I had a shift at the café. The café was below the west wing, the girls' wing. Kio had come with me but left soon after as he hadn't even started with his unpacking. While serving I thought to myself, look at me, how desperately I was waiting for my roommate to come, how I had not been in touch with anyone for a whole freaking month and now I was crushing on a girl I hardly knew. Who would have thought the guy who was the most popular and was a magnet that attracted girls everywhere he went in high school, would become a loner in college?
Until someone interrupted my self-pitying thoughts.
"Umm whatever your name is, I would like a honey chocolate mocha with non-fat milk." she says rather in an impertinent tone.
"You can order at the counter!" I say unbothered.
"Oh, now you are showing me attitude!? My daddy is on the board of councils and you can get fired." she snaps.
I sigh and ask her what her name was, she says, "Nicoletta Valencia!" oh so this was Kio's cousin, no wonder he didn't like her.
My shift was over, Nicoletta was still sitting there on her phone. I was coming out of the café when I heard someone screaming, a girl, it was coming from the first floor. I had heard this voice before, it was Vanessa. I had no idea what came over me but I darted over there, and to my surprise the door to wing was open, you need a card to open it and only the people living there have it.
Behind me I saw Kio following me, he told me he was here to meet me as he was done with his unpacking. When we reached there, I saw Vanessa shouting like she had seen a dead body, and then she fell down, I was perplexed I had no idea what was going on. There standing behind the door was Reagan confused as me. I go and help Vanessa, hold her back and ask her if she was alright and then she points in the opposite direction, I see it. So she HAD seen a dead body.
Rose was there, on the floor all bloody. I just couldn't see it but I still did. I entered the room; on the blood I saw petals of rose scattered and in a wine glass a dried-out rose and water and blood, probably Rose's. Whoever had done this had taken their time. Rose was there lying small like always, her eyes looking at me, her hair drenched in liquids, this was a lot to take in. I felt like vomiting. I resisted. Three knife stabs in her stomach, I close her eyes not looking at it directly. First Bryce and then Rose.
My mind goes back to Vanessa, she would be there lying fainted in the hallway . When I go back, I see people shifting her to her room. This is probably her first dead body, my was my brother's, it was the scariest day of my life.
He was driving us to the basketball court. He had come back from college for the long weekend the night before that day. We both were laughing and talking about his college. How he missed Rose and me and the continuous bickering of our parents. When suddenly someone came and stopped us in between of the road and almost killed us.
He stepped out of the car and went to the confront the driver. The driver lowered down the window and removed a gun and shot three bullets directly into his chest and drove by. It all happened so fast that I didn't even realize it until I went to see him.
I shouted so loudly that people gathered around me, I called the police and the ambulance immediately but till the time we reached the hospital, he was already dead. I was in my room for a week and had come out only during funeral.
