//SHUICHI POV//

I stared at the door as the young boys footsteps slowly faded away. Why. Why didn't I do something.

The door burst open again.

Hoping it was Kokichi who decided to speak to me, I looked up, but was greeted by Kaede.

I wanted to be happy. I was happy. Of course I was happy to see my friend. But I wanted to see him.

"Shuichi! Good news, the nurses said that he's doing better so maybe you can go visit him tomorrow," she said, sitting down on the bed.

I smiled, "Thanks for asking for me." She nodded and pulled out something from a bag.

"So.. Once we all woke up, we got to have our phones back," she grinned. She handed me my old phone that had a danganronpa case on it.

I frowned at the case and practically ripped it off, stuffing it back in the bag.

Kaede chuckled, as if she understood. Well, she was there. She did understand.

I unlocked my phone as I noticed the dozens of notifications. They were all...

YouTube notifications. No messages. No texts. No emails. No one who cared.

I frowned and scrolled through the seemingly endless YouTube notifications. I noticed how people had started posting clips from our game, and I couldn't help but smile, thinking we were famous.

But then I realized.

All of the bad things are on there too.

I pushed away my phone and smiled at Kaede.

"I'm glad you were here when I woke up. I think I would've freaked out if I had woken up alone."

She smiled and grabbed my hand once more.

"Shuichi, I'll always be there for you. You're my friend."

We smiled at each other for a few moments before the door slowly opened, and a tired nurse walked in holding a clipboard.

"Shuichi Saihara? Visiting times are over, we're gonna do a quick vital check and then bring you some dinner, alright?"

I nodded and let go of Kaede's hand. She stood up and waved, "Goodnight Shuichi."

I waved back whilst smiling.

Ten minutes later, my vitals had been checked and I was handed a fresh hospital gown to wear after I had showered.

I laid down onto the painfully white bed as a nurse walked in with a tray. She placed it on a table that laid over my lap and left the room.

Soup and a sandwich, it seems. And some orange juice. It isn't too bad.

Spotting the TV that hung from the wall parallel to me, I searched for a remote.

I turned on the TV and started eating while watching the news.

Stories about the Warriors of Hope. The newly awoken survivors of the killing game. Bla bla bla.

I witnessed this stuff first hand.

I switched the channel to the kids channel, hoping to find a show to give me comfort, and sure enough, a random kids show I used to watch came on.

I didn't really watch these in my free time, but whenever I'm stressed I would watch these because I always knew what would happen.

And since it's a kids show, I knew that nothing bad could happen.

Thirty minutes later, a nurse came to take the tray, and gave me more pills.
