//SHUICHI POV//

As I stirred around, I couldn't help but feel a presence looming over me. I slowly opened my eyes, yet being blinded by a bright light I quickly covered them again.

After my eyes had adjusted to the blinding light, I slowly opened my eyes again, and noticed three sets of eyes peering down at me.

Maki, Kaede and Kaito all stared at me, with teary eyes. I frowned.

I laid on a white bed, with an ice pack rested on my forehead, seemingly wearing a hospital gown.

"Why do you guys look upset? D-Did I do something?"

Something in my mind lit up.

"D-Did we lose!?"

They all chuckled softly for a few seconds before Kaito cleared his throat and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Sidekick, you won. We won."

With my mouth agape I looked up at him.

"W-We won?"

I almost sprung up out of the bed, yet I felt too sore to do so.

"Hngh- I- My body hurts," I groaned, looking up at the ceiling.

"..After Kiibo sacrificed himself to blow up the school, there was a blast that hurt all of the survivors pretty badly.. I think you're the only one who didn't break something. Well, apart from your wrist but that'll heal u-"

I jolted upwards and stared at my wrist.

At the moment of realization, I must have begun to experience the pain as well.

I bit my lip and held back a groan.

"Hey, should I get a nurse," Maki asked Kaito softly.

Kaito nodded. "I'll come with you."

The two of them walked out of the room, leaving me alone with Kaede.

A moment of silence filled the room.

"It's been awhile, Shuichi," she whispered to me.

I nodded, smiling softly.

She gently grabbed my non broken hand and held it weakly, not wanting to hurt me.

I never thought to see her again. I never thought I'd have the chance to speak to her again.

I didn't know what to say or what to think.

"I'm sorry. I know you didn't do it," I mumbled, thinking of Rantaro.

She smiled and squeezed my hand softly, "You didn't know. It wasn't your fault."

I looked down at our hands, smiling.

The door swung open, and a nurse rushed in, handing me a pill and a glass of water.

"Take this, it'll help relieve the pain."

I felt confused as to why she seemed so rushed, yet I swallowed it fast, letting her rush back out of the room.

Maki and Kaito walked back into the room after she rushed out, Kaito grinning at a blushing Maki.

"What was that about," I asked, motioning to the nurse.

They all paused for a second, and the room filled with a dreadful silence.

Kaede looked at Kaito before he nodded.

"Shuichi.. Kokichi has been here since he woke up, and it seemed as if it did a lot of psychical damage to him-"

"W-what's that supposed to mean?"

Kaede stared at me wide eyed, confused over the sudden lash out.

"H-he's been having breakdowns often, panic attacks, they said, where he tries to hurt himself or escape.. I guess the whole thing really.. Traumatized him."

I sat up swiftly. "I- I want to see him- I- I really need to speak to him."

"I don't think now is the right time, Shuichi, if that nurse was in a rush because of him, then he might not be doing well at the moment, but you can later," Kaede reassured me.

Later wasn't good enough.

"No! I- I need to see him now," I exclaimed, beginning to push myself up out of bed.

Kaito sighed loudly and pushed me back down by the shoulder.

"Chillax, bro, we'll go ask if you can visit him," he said, motioning for Kaede and Maki to follow him.

I sighed and leaned back into the bed, clenching my eyes shut and trying not to think about it.

Kokichi wasn't who I thought he was. This whole time I was scared of what he could do, but he was scared as well...-

My thoughts were interrupted by the door swinging open and someone walking inside.

Believing it was my friends, I opened my eyes to a surprise.

Purple hair, and a wide grin on his face. His hands rested behind his head as he walked into the room.

...

He yelped after noticing me staring at him and stumbled back.

"K-Kokichi!"

He paused.

"Neeheehee, I guess I walked into the wrong room," he giggled, turning around.

I swiftly got out of bed and walked towards him, grabbing his wrist before he could escape. Again.

"K-Kokichi I-"

He turned towards me, and all I saw was fear in his eyes. I quickly let go of his wrist, and he rushed out of the room.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled after him.
